The next season is getting closer (threat). You know what else is close? The hundredth chapter of this book (also a threat, but this one you'll like :3)

"Wu! Wu!" (y/n) ran up the stairs of the mountain, stumbling a little on the cobblestone path. He caught himself before he could fall, pushed himself upright, and continued climbing without even slowing down.

Wu had finally returned from one of his expeditions. He made those a lot. But this time, he was gone for a week. He'd never been away that long. And despite being happy he could stay with Mystake, (y/n) had gotten homesick.

Sometimes Wu went looking for ancient scrolls. Sometimes he traveled to places (y/n) had never heard of to find rare tea leaves. Other times, he simply left with a bag over his shoulder and gave (y/n) an explanation filled with words that were far too complicated for him to understand.

Wu always said he'd understand when he was older. But (y/n) didn't want to wait until he had beard as long as Wu's.

(y/n) loved staying with Mystake, yes. She brought him things Wu never did, like cans of soda. With Wu it was always tea or juice or water. Mystake also told stories Wu refused to, but (y/n) had to promise not to tell Wu, and keeping secrets from the man made him anxious.

Mystake was dear, but she wasn't Wu. In the same sense Wu wasn't Mystake.

"Wu!" (y/n) burst through the gate, the old man inside nearly jumping, setting down his staff to lean against the wall.

"(y/n). What's wrong-" But he couldn't finish, when (y/n) had already caught him in a bear hug, or well, as big of a hug as little (y/n) could muster.

"Well," Wu chuckled, resting a hand gently on (y/n)'s head. "I see someone missed me. You didn't like "

(y/n) pushed back suddenly, face red. "N-not really." That made Wu laugh harder.

"It's okay. I missed you too." Wu sat down on the porch stairs, as he often did, and (y/n) settled instinctively next to him. "How has your week gone by?"

"Great! Mystake took me to watch this man throw a bunch of things around and catch them again like you. It was cool, but everyone was surprised like they'd never seen it before."

"You saw a juggler?" Wu smiled. "Yes, it's rare to see that. Especially professionals."

"But you do it all the time? With swords and shuriken's." (y/n) tilted his head.

"With ninja training, it's... a little different." Wu chuckled. "What else did you two do?"

"We saw a cat! A cute, black one. And then we went for lunch at a fancy place, with really strange meals, but they tasted good. Oh, and then we flew my kite at the edge of Jamanakai village, so we wouldn't bother anybody else. Oh, oh! And then we..." (y/n) would have kept going on and on for the entire day, if he could.

Wu was just glad to listen, it was easy. He couldn't mess it up.

"But then Mystake said something strange." (y/n) suddenly looked worried. "She said your old student ran away."

"...Mystake told you about Morro?" Wu straightened up, his eyes no longer as gentle as before.

"Morro?" (y/n) tilted his head, and Wu sighed.

"Forget that name." Wu said, and pet (y/n)'s hair. "Promise me something, you won't ask Mystake about it."

"Why?" (y/n) blinked.

"You must promise." Wu said sternly.

"Okay. I promise." (y/n) nodded.

He should have kept his promise.
