This chapter is short, but it's going to establish one or two timeline things so it won't be too boring. Anyways, let's jump straight into it!!!

"Psst! (y/n)!" (y/n) looked around in alarm. Was it back? It couldn't have just returned, could it? Only he and Karlof were there in that part of the factory, there was-

"(y/n)! I found him!" The whisper came a bit louder this time, and the (f/c) ninja instantly relaxed. (y/n) tapped Karlof on the shoulder, and the man concentrated on moving boxes of ingredients with (y/n) stopped.

(y/n) turned Karlof around and pointed to the corner, between barrels and boxes, two ninja were squatting, hiding under a tarp so they wouldn't be noticed. How they even got there was a mystery, but being a ninja himself (y/n) didn't question it.

"So that walking computer friend, huh, he really metal." Karlof first whispered to (y/n), who nodded, before leaning into Karlof's ear and speaking up himself.

"Keep watch, warn me if anyone comes."

"Sure, but cloak boy doesn't get much time." Karlof turned around and pretended to work near the corner, while (y/n) dove under the tarp with the two ninja.

"(y/n)!" Cole let out, still whispering as (y/n) appeared in front of him and Zane.

"They know you both are gone, so security outside has gone up. You got back just in time." (y/n) explained quickly to the both of them.

"Yeah, we got to see their 'security' in action already." Cole answered again, before noticing Zane was surprisingly silent. And (y/n) had noticed the same thing.

"Zane? Are you... alright?" Zane was totally silent for a second, his eyes, which created a strange blue glow under the tarp, blinked open and closed for a bit.

"...Yes. I am fine. That is all." Zane suddenly spoke, as a silence ensued. (y/n) didn't believe him. Cole slowly backed out from under the tarp, and hid near Karlof as the man kept watch. He felt he wasn't needed in the conversation, and instead went to talk to Karlof.

Your p.o.v.

Cole suddenly got up, and sneaked out from under the tarp. Zane still had a troubled expression on his face.

"That is all?" Is all I could say.

I missed him so much. The whole team did. I hope they received the note Cole sent them. I've been distancing myself from them for so long. It is been way too long since... everything. We lost Zane, then we lost each other. Maybe now we can fix things.

"So many things have changed in so little time." Zane suddenly broke the silence, he had asmile on his face. It was somewhat melancholic too. But... huh?

"Both you and Cole have changed. Both from the outside and inside. I wonder if the others have changed too." He continued, with every word this was just getting more strange. Before he could say anything more, I raised a hand.

"Zane," I started carefully. "It's been over a year."

Zane's expression instantly froze. Maybe I shouldn't have said that.

"Forget it-" I tried to brush it off, but it seemed to bother Zane too much. He grabbed my hands and gave them a squeeze that was much tighter than what he probably intended it to be.

"A year? Is- is that true?" Zane asked, sounding panicked.

"...Yes." I really shouldn't have told him that. But I can't take it back now. Zane isn't saying anything anymore. And I don't know what to say either. That's when Zane sighed.
