Chapter 022
Myra's point of view
I spent the next few hours before dinner in my room getting to know Linda better, and a bit more about Lisa. I needed to know if she's someone I have to worry about or discard.
I didn't see Lucas till I went down for dinner where I met him seated already at the dinette set. His face lit up at the sight of me.
"Mon Diamant, how are you?" He greeted with an unusual enthusiasm, patting the space near him for me to come occupy.
I'm glad he's back and around, but my earlier encounter with Lisa persecute my peace of mind. Especially after everything I learnt about her from Linda, she's so not to be discarded.
He was quick to notice my depleted energy as the zeal on his face watered down to concern, "What's wrong with you? Are you alright, love?" He grilled with a matching tone.
I pondered whether I should tell him about Lisa, or this is something I can deal with myself.
'I suggest you tell him about it, after all he's the one she's threatening us to leave,' Salome said while I struggle to make a decision.
"I'm fine but worried about what is it you went for, and why it took you hours to be done with it? Am I still in danger? Or you?" I settled on talking about something else. I'll decide about Lisa by the end of today and know how to handle her case by tomorrow.
"Oh," he stretched out his hand to grab mine as he gave it a gentle squeeze, "I've got it all sorted already, there's nothing to worry about okay?" He spoke in assurance.
He gestured at the maids to serve us our dinner.
"I've spoken to the person I want you to meet and told her why we couldn't make it today, she said tomorrow is still a good day for you to meet her," he said to me.
I nodded in response, but then I got curious on who this person is. "Who is she to you? I know you said a family figure, but I'm curious on who she is exactly to you. A mother? Sister? Huh?"
"She's like a mother, after the death of my parents, she took me in and raised me," he answered, his tone sentimental.
The death of his parents. I thought he killed them, news were he wiped his own family to take the throne, that he's nothing but a power hungry bastard.
"I'm sorry if that opened any old wounds." I need more information about him, but I also don't want to pry and rather let him share whenever he's ready.
He nodded and said nothing, instead began eating his dinner. My eyes tore off him as I dug into my own served meal.
For the next minutes we eat in silence and we were soon done with dinner.
"If you're not tired then I'd like to spend some time with you," he suggested, while his gaze anticipate for my agreement.
"Yeah of course." He grinned as he hand out his palm for me to take, he guarded me out of my seat and walked me out of the area.
We walked up the stairs, past my room and his office but yet to make a stop. I wanted to ask him where he's taking me, but a part of me tamed the curiosity and ride on the thrill instead.
We soon arrived at a door, a single small golden door. There was no guard in sight, and it was just us and us alone at the shallow hallway further up the stairs.
He brought out a key and unlocked the door, he pushed it open and the windy space of the terrace greeted my face.
He gently dragged me out with him for a better view. I smiled as the cool breeze of the night slaps on my skin, creating a soft sensation of peace and serenity.
The terrace was pretty much barren other than a single chair that sits near the rails.
He pulled on his hold on me as my body tugged so close to him I slammed right into his chest. His huge frame caged me with warmth, and I relish in it.
"Usually when I need to escape my reality and imagine something new and different for myself, this is my spot for doing that," he said to me, his voice soft and thick at the same time.
"This place is beautiful," I told him as my eyes lingered up to the night sky.
For the first time in my life, I watched the beauty of the night sky. The little shiny stars scattered across the endless horizon to create a sparkly carpet of glamor and beauty.
"You know I was right here when my mother died, my father killed her," he said all of a sudden, and the moment grew dark and gloomy almost immediately.
I pulled away but not too far to look into his eyes, pure deep emotions and sincerity gleamed beneath his orbs.
He continued, "I had no idea, I was up here trying to figure out my life meanwhile downstairs my mother and father had gotten into one of their messy fights, only this time it got bloody. My father killed my mom, and died from their mate bond separating. My brother was the crown prince, but my sister was the first born so that had generated another rift in my family that resulted in the death of both siblings. All of this I come to know about after they've left me alone in the fate of this cruel world. I was tempted to take my own life, but-" he paused to blink away the liquid gathering under his eyes. "But my nanny, the woman I want you to meet, she was there for me and I feel like I owe her my life since she treated me like her own son. At the age young age of eighteen I was presented the responsibility to rule my kingdom. I'm not saying it's the worst, but I never wanted it."
Sympathy painted me all over with. I had thought my life was the worst, that no life on earth could beat or compare to the horror I went through. However his story begs to differ, in some ways they didn't compare to mine but still had the same traumatic effects.
No words can console him right now so I opted for something else, I pushed myself towards him and pulled him in for a hug. His body relaxed against mine and I just wanted us in this position forever.
Can't believe this is the truth about him, yes he was a devil or monster or whatever the world made him up to be. But he was also a traumatized man.
People thought he wiped his family for the throne, meanwhile had no idea the throne was forced on him. And only then did I just realized what this is,
Lucas just opened up to me, not totally but enough to let me know that he has let me in. He trust me!
Lucas trust me!

Furthermore, I'd like to address the grammatical errors and typographic mistakes. English is not my first language and the book has yet to go over a thorough proofreading. Editing will soon commence on it so bear with me while I wait.
We've gotten here so far and I'd like to hear your opinions on the storyline, characters and book development? Thank you all once again.
