  Chapter 085

   Lucas's point of view

I was laid in a circle drew around an pentagram's markings. Alfred, the mage in work stood at the edge and above my head.

He has a book in his hands as he flipped through the pages. "I'm going to cast the spell now, whatever it is you feel, don't fight it and just let it in. The spell is to extract your soul and keep it locked in that circle marked with the runes of Eldomoch, the monarch of creations. The runes will keep your soul out of Death's reach when it comes to keep claim."

I only nodded on the floor where I was laid, true to his words they were symbols drew into the space inside the pentagram. Weird symbols I've neither seen before nor can I identify. They must be the runes he spoke about.

"Elz Lir Ti Mor Sapnum....." he began to speak in a weird language, probably chanting the words in the book he held.

I glanced up at him and saw the glow in his pupils, his voice grew louder as the chant became more intense and powerful.

The symbols beneath me began to heat all of a sudden against my body. He told me whatever it is I'll feel, I should embrace it and let it in.

Pain seeded my skin, running down my whole body as the sensation burned harsher and more intense.

Red light glinted out and painted the lines that drew the circle and mark the shape. The pain pushed further into my body, and I could feel it trickling through.

I remained still on the ground, but could feel myself struggling to get up. There was no movements from me, yet it felt as though I'm pulling quite the moves to get up.

Alfred kept on chanting the spell, his voice had grown louder and the book was no longer held in his hand, rather held in the air to float by itself.

I felt myself push up and off the ground I was laid on next, I looked around and saw that my spirit has been extracted like he explained and below me was my body laid there lifeless.

I've assumed a pure form instead, in the air. The markings beneath my body was still very much glowing red, and a similar light reflected from above me. So I glanced up and saw that the same circle and markings hanged above me, drew with the red beams that painted the circle below.

Alfred finally stopped chanting, "It's done," he announced as the book floated back into his hands. "Now we just wait for death to come for you," he added.

He began to walk towards the exist.

"And where are you going? Wouldn't you be around?" I quizzed at him.

"Oh no I can't. Death is a sly and cruel entity, for I helped keep your soul out of his reach after it has gotten the whiff of your soul out in the wind. It could come for me instead to stage balance for what I've done, and it's safe to say I fear death. So have your meeting with him, and when you're done, I'll be back to put your soul back inside you." He bowed at me and attempted to leave but stopped,

"I nearly forgot. Whatever you do, do not float out or leave that circle. If you go out, you'll be out of the runes's range and in death's embrace. Stay inside till you're done Sire," he warned before he finally stepped out.

So I'm just suppose to wait around for death or what? Who knows what it looks like? Is it really an entity or it's like the rest of us, just not human or supernatural, rather cosmos and a thread of existence.

When is it gonna arrive also? Does it take to travel out of the underworld into our own world.

The ritual took place far from the palace, still around the compound, but I have it occur at one of the abandoned houses here. It was cleared out to make space and create a transcendental environment.

Wild suddenly blew into the room, and all the windows flew open. I couldn't feel the cold or breeze, but I know it was an heavy one as the doors clapped in rhythm to the banging windows.

A dark Smokey substance flooded through the open windows, pitch black as the substance came together to form a figure.

The figure cladded in an all black, he has the figure of a man and was covered in his wild and long cape that ran longer than his height. He appears to be also faceless and in place of his face was nothing but a dark space.

"Come out human, you belong to me now." His hands spread out and apart as breeze stronger than when he wanted to make his appearance stormed the room.

I saw my body shifted on the floor.

"You've taken the soul of my beloveth, I want you to return her to me and whatever price you request for will be yours," I pitched at him as I floated down to stand on my feet and move closer to him but stay within the circle.

A thunderous cackle echoed from where he stood as he stirred closer in a blink. His aura hollow, strong enough to affect me even while I'm a lingering soul.

"Step out of that circle and restate your bargain." His faceless void stared into my soul as he waited for my next move.

"My name is Lucius Aldrich, I can offer you your greatest desire. All I want from you is to retrieve a vital asset of mine lost to you."

"And what exactly is my greatest desire human?" He sounded amused.

"To feed on the untouchable souls." He went quiet after my response. Of course I was right.

Death's greatest desire will always be the death itself.

"And whose soul is it you badly want back alive, that gives you the audacity to trick me up here and strike a bargain with me?" He moved back as he began to circle me in assessment.

I smirked, I've gotten him. I stepped out of the circle, out of the runes's range.

He circled back to where I was and towered over me in an instant, but hesitant to devour and claim my soul.

"Let's make a better deal even. I promise to give you all the souls you cannot claim but badly wants to feed on, as long as you mark me forever untouchable and restricted to ever become a part of your world, then give back to me the soul of Myra De Vries. That's all," I spoke into his face, fearless of the void that stared back at me.

"You did kill the dragon king, you seem like a worthy fit for my herald. Except, I do not have the soul you request for and I crave to taste the formidable essence of your own soul. So thank you for stepping out of that little circle for me. We would have had a deal if your need weren't out of my reach. Welcome to my world." His hands flayed apart as darkness flowed out of him to surround me.

"Wait wait wait, I want something else!" I screamed out in panic, his smokey shadow were starting to drown me.

   He paused his action, "Speak!"

"It has to do with a girl named Madeleine Aldrich. I need you to to tell me her anchor, I desire to send her back to you. Do that and mark me untouchable, then our deal is still on," I said to him and sighed as his darkness retracted into his body.

"Smart one Mortal, it's a deal."
