Chapter 035
Myra's point of view
"That's a nice little story you've got there brother," A feminine voice commented, and our attention drilled towards the voice.
A lady came into sight, tall with long silky blood-red hair, a color that matched her eyes and the gloss smeared on her lips.
"Brother...?" My sense snapped back to the title attached to her comment, she just called Lucas her bother.
The shock was yet to settle in fully when she marched forward and stretched out her palm for me to take, "I'm Madeleine, your elder sister in law, pleasure to meet you." She curved a friendly smile while her eyes rolled around my figure.
I left her hand ignored and looked into Lucas's face, he's the only one who could possibly tell me I'm not mad and truly right now, a lady is not in front of me claiming to be his sister.
Because if I recall correctly, his sister died in a rival between his brother on who should wear the crown. So who the exact fuck is the lady in front of me?
"Hmm," she sounded, and I was forced to peak a glance, her palm had retract and she tapped her index finger on her jaw instead as she paced backward. "Looks like you're not aware of my existence, or-" her eyes moved to match Lucas's stoic gaze, "Or he told you a different story, I'm curious, what did he say about me?"
Lucas doesn't seem surprised or shocked as I am. It's like he knew she wasn't dead, like he knew he lied to me.
"Lucas what's happening?" I had to ask since he chose to remain silence and not address any of this. I need explanations on why she's alive and well, contrary to what he told me.
Just when we've managed to get past the afternoon incident and put it behind us, it was then this decided to show up and blow our relationship. Goddess, I'm tired!
His explanation for what happened this afternoon was believable and managed to wipe out the doubts I've started to grow. But now, with Linda's mention of his others mate and the lie to the past he shared with me, the past I thought he trusted me with, I think I should harbor more than doubts about him. It's high time to get suspicious, perhaps Lucas is or might not be who he claims to be.
Or who be made me believe he is.
'That's what I've been telling you, that is what,' Salome stated in a mock statement.
"Lucas," I called out to him, but he ignored me like I've done to my sarcastic wolf. "Lucas-"
"We'll talk after dinner, for now let's eat," he said simply, and marched us over to the table.
I didn't know what to say or how to react to his words. I just stood there and watched as he sat down and dug into his food, a peak at his so called sister and she was also doing the same.
I was the only one left standing and had shock mixed with confusion written all over her face.
I scoffed silently, this is unbelievable. Does he not value me?
I plopped down the available seat beside him, deterred still by the whole situation. I proceeded to serve myself, and place it all aside for now.
We ate in peace and thick silence, but the tension that raided the room was as deep and intense as the strain I could sniff and picked between Lucas and his sister.
It was obvious something was going on between them, Lucas had his eyes on her throughout the whole dinner, and hers swung from me to him.
We finally finished dinner, and Madeleine excused herself almost immediately. I pushed my plate away to make a clearing as I turn to face Lucas completely.
"So?"
He knew what I'm asking about or talking about, he reached for an empty glass cup and the jug of water to pour himself some water rather than answer me.
"Lucas?" I sounded impatient, but I could care less. I'm at my wit's end right now.
First he drank the glass of water he poured himself, then exhaled a long drag of breath. Is he stalling or just wanted to annoy me?
"My sister did indeed die like I told you so, there was just a story left about her that I skipped or I felt like you shouldn't know yet," he responded alas, but his response did little to no justice to the confusion that strangled me.
He continued however, "My sister before she died sort after unnatural powers and was granted the forbidden ability to cheat death I suppose, she died but didn't stay dead, she came back to life right after I got crowned the King and declared war between us. She wanted me to drop the crown for her, she wanted me to leave the throne as well, honor her requests or I deal with her never-ending wrath. I chose the latter because I couldn't hand over the fate of my world to a psychopath's hands, she's so much than me or my father, even worse than the both of us combined, she's that bad. She'd tried to kill me many times and was the one who got me cursed. I know I said it was the moon goddess, but Madeleine was behind it. She did a solid bad in front of the moon goddess that warranted the curse," he paused to heave a deep sigh, and his gaze also lifted to meet mine.
"This is her third time coming back to her, and she has no mission to accomplish than to attain my demise. Every single time she's come back and come for me but fail, she's always a step closer to her win. And tonight when I saw that she's back, I got extremely worried over what her plans for me this time were, wondering if it involves you, and how to take her out before she does any harm,"
"Oh my," I gasped at his narration, speechless.
"I'm sorry for not telling you sooner, I felt like you didn't know need to know more about my fucked yo family cause I have this notion that it mess with your image of me," he alleged, and my heart thumped with sadness.
He should never feel like that, I made him a promise and I will never break that. "I know you trust me, but please trust me completely," I said as I reached to grab his hands, my soft small palms slipping into his large warm holds as he rubbed on my wrists, "Do you remember my promise to you?"
He looked at me and nodded a yes.
"I will always be with you no matter what, okay? Don't have any idea or notion or anything, just trust me,"
"I trust you already, but do you trust me?" He asked, frankly.
"I- I do," I hesitated between my words, and questioned the sincerity inwardly. Do I really trust him?
"Then tell me all I need to you about you, tell me all about yourself, Myra," he requested in a soft voice.
'Don't Myra, I feel like he's lying, everything he's saying are lies and more lies. Myra this man is not to be trusted, don't-'
My wolf had try to convince me, but she's just paranoid like I was some minutes ago after I met her sister, until he explained and cleared out my paranoia.
"I trust you, so I'm gonna tell you everything you want to know." I smiled at him.
