Chapter 067
Myra's point of view
I returned to my room after minutes of trying to figure out where Neil disappeared too and couldn't, I decided that was a case to solve for another day. For now, I'm tired and could use a nap break.
It's night already, it's even past what I'll call my bedtime. Lucas never came by, but I anticipated Logan's visit.
He wouldn't give up now would he? Not after I've learnt the truth and deemed him worthy of a chance. There's nothing I would or could do if he decides I wasn't worth his trouble no longer, my desire to have a mate whose love would sweep me into oblivion has been sucked dry.
I just want a peaceful life now. If the life has a mate in the picture, then that's cool and if it doesn't, still cool.
I laid on the bed, mostly awake because I think Logan might still popped by before midnight. And there's no way I can reach out to him.
I'm not a psychic like him, or much of anything even. Now thinking about it, all I am truly is just an element that constituted a formidable power.
Selene might have called me a divine wolf, if only she knows there was nothing divine about me. I'm as mundane as a wolf could get.
Salome on the other hand hasn't said a word still, what could be wrong with her? I have no idea. I've tried to talk to her couple times now, and she has successfully snubbed me each time I tried. I reckoned she needed space to wrap her head around it all, so I gave her exactly that.
She'll talk whenever she wants to. Even I still finds it hard to believe it all.
I yawned, my eyes already drowsy. A knock blared from the door, so loud my head banged headache. Whatever happens to a polite knock, that whoever is out there doesn't know about, and would rather knock so loud it affects my tired brain already.
With a grumpy face I pushed myself off the bed, and dragged my feet towards the door. Another knock came down, loud and effective as the last one was.
Who the hell is it?
I opened the door, ready to bash words at whoever wasn't taught the basic manners on how to knock. My anger wiped off at the figure that stood by my entrance, Lucas' sister, Madeleine.
What was she doing here? Thought she's a solo dancer.
"I'm sorry if my knocks were too loud, I thought you've gone to sleep so I needed to be extra," she said in an apologetic tone.
"Thanks to your extra, I think I'll go to sleep with an ache in the head instead, because shockingly I wasn't asleep." I gave her a sarcastic smile, "Now what do you have to say? I'd invite you in, but you may not tweak well in people's privacy." I had no idea why, but I made jeers at her earlier words when I pushed for an alliance between us.
"I'd actually like for you to invite me in," she countered, her voice soft still. This doesn't seem like the Madeleine I spoke with at the dining room, or the one I've encountered since she arrived.
She doesn't talk this softly, or seemed this gentle.
"It depends on why you're here, when it comes to my privacy you see, I'm also a solo dancer. So tell me why you've come to bang on my door so I could develop an headache." I pasted another taunting smile.
"I want to talk to you about The Alpha King and you, it's urgent and important," she said, but there was just something seriously off about her. I don't know yet, but I'm sure of it.
'She's not Madeleine, that's someone else. I think you should invite her in and hear what she has to say,' Salome pitched at me, her first words to me since our brief conversation with Selene.
I'm pissed at her for ghosting me for no reason, nevertheless I missed her smart observations and suggestions.
If she was speaking to me when I was still inside the control room, she might have figured out a way for us to locate where Neil disappeared to. I plan to return though, like I said; it's a mystery case to solve some other day.
I gazed at the Madeleine intensely, she shifted under my gaze getting uncomfortable. Salome was right, this was an imposter, the Madeleine I knew wouldn't refer her brother as "The Alpha King", she calls him by either his name or a foul name. But just to be sure.
"I thought you said you never wanted to talk to me again, said I was too stupid and dumb to make your acquaintance?"
"Oh... no, no I didn't mean any of that. I'm sorry I haven't apologized for that, that should have been the first thing I did when I came here. I'm really sorry I said all that. If it makes you feel better, I truly regret my words and would like to make your own acquaintance?" She curved a friendly smile at me z
And there it is. She failed the test, and outed herself. She's not Madeleine. She's an imposter, she's faking to be Lucas' sister.
Madeleine never said any of those things to me, no wonder she couldn't react well to my mocking remarks on what she had actually said to me.
What could this imposter want? "Fine, come in." I pushed the door apart, wide enough to fit as her figure squeezed in.
Like Salome suggested, let me find out what she wants, and perhaps figure out who she is.
She came into my room, and went straight to sit at the edge of my bed. I closed the door before I walked over to her.
"So what do you have to discuss that's urgent as well as important, about the Alpha King?"
She sighed, "I think he is trying to kill you."
Darling that's an old news, who doesn't know that yet? Except those who weren't interested in the story of my life. I kept mute and left it going.
"I know you don't trust me, but you need to know I'm the only one who can help you get away from him. I want to help you, to save you, this is a matter of life life and death for you. That's all I have to say." She stood up from the bed.
"Is that it? You're going already?"
I still needed to ask some questions and see if I can figure out who she is.
"Yes, you should go think about what I've said to you. I'll come back tomorrow to hear your decision, I'm ready to help you if you want my help. I hope you're not blinded by love and would do the right thing for yourself," she responded as she began to approach the exit.
"Wait, I'm grateful for this. Thank you so much, but I didn't catch your name?" I rushed after her.
"It's Madeleine, but you can call me Maddy. Don't come to see me tomorrow, I myself will come see you. You should decided fast."
She has no idea I know the identity she assumed is a lie, and that she has a motive for coming to me. It's an advantage on my end, but really useless when I don't know who she is or what she wants.
It's high time I request for Logan's help.
Author's note: So I've decided that instead of posting two chapters after a day off between updates. I've decided to update daily.
