Chapter 098
Myra's point of view
"Who are you?" Her eyes shunned with disbelief as she stepped back in retraction and fear.
"I'm willing to give you one more chance, heal her and you might earn yourself a pass out of this mess. Refuse to, then face the same fate," I bargained, hoping deeply she'd change her mind and give us the remedy.
Why doesn't my wishing powers worked on Linda? Or are they gone?
"I can't. The poison inside of her was newly created, she was the victim I tested it on to see the efficiency," she spoke shakily, her voice roped in anxiety.
How could she have been so evil? Testing out a dangerous poison on an innocent victim with no care of what happens to the victim.
"You must save her, it's either you save her or face the same fate," I sounded more pathetic than threatening. I didn't want to lose Linda, apart from what she meant to me, she really doesn't deserve this. I anticipated a positive response from her, but all I got was more whimpers and a full sob break out.
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry," she pleaded amidst tears and regret.
I'm not forgiving her, neither will I be taking pity on her. I'm going to keep to my word instead, she's going to meet the same fate.
I took a step forward and closer to her. "So what happens if somehow you're also poisoned with the same poison you had in her," I said as I manifested the thought inside of me.
She suddenly fell to her knees, shaky for a brief seconds before she arched over to rest on her hands.
"What's wrong? What happened? What did you do to me?" She inquired, fear vivid in her tone as I presume the effect of the poison must now be taking place.
My wishing power still works. I was able to wish a fate into her reality, but couldn't interfere in Linda's. Why was that? Why couldn't I save her?
'I have a theory, I've also been wondering why since it happened, and this is the best explanation I could come with,' Salome jolted in my thoughts.
"Okay, I'm listening."
'Well, perhaps your power only affects the living, things that are alive you know,'
"I don't think so. I wished for a rain, is the sky a living thing?"
I heard her groan in her wolf tone in my head. 'In case you can't tell, I'm rolling my eyes at you and your stupidity sometimes. My theory doesn't apply to that, rather at the reason why you were unable to save Linda. I think it's because Linda was already dead or about to. She was few minutes away from her death when you arrived her, her soul already accepted to be a part of the underworld. I think you don't have the power to warp the line between life and death.'
Salome came to an end of her explanation, and as weird as it sounds she made absolute sense. Linda was indeed drawing on her last breaths when we got here, she was far gone than I could have brought her back.
Perhaps my power doesn't truly affects the plane of life and death.
"Oh that makes sense. What doesn't again is that she casted a spell that is suppose to make me powerless, why was I able to use my power?" I asked her, I mean since she's the smart one who is super quick to figure things out, I might as well make her my personal swell-head.
'Isn't it obvious?'
"If it is, would I be asking you?" I retorted with the same sarcastic energy.
'You've been bound once, you can't be again. You kind of overwhelmed her spell till it broke and became useless, that's how.'
I looked down at the witch, her skin has started turning paling. I'm glad it's a slow poison, I hope she has about three days or more to suffer before she dies.
I went back to Linda and took the chains that was once used on her.
"What are you planning to do?" Logan questioned as he got up on his feet. "You want to use it on her?" His gaze trailed over to the witch and back to the chains I held in my hand. "Let me help you with that." He came to me and collected it from my hand.
Was he just smart to quickly figure that out, or I'm just overthinking that he got into my head?
"Yeah I can hear your thoughts now, which is weird but amazing at the same time. You kind of gave me the access though, I wouldn't be in your head if you hadn't allow me," Logan vocalized inside my head which had me frightened for a brief second.
"How? Why would I do that? There's no way I'd like my thoughts to become transparent to you," I tried to argue.
'I did it, had to get revenge on you for calling me a "Swell-head" and so I decided to get a swell up on yours.' I heard her woofed mischievously.
Argh!!!!! She's just so-
"Who is?"
"Logan stay out of my head!"
"Oh yeah I'm sorry, I'm done with your witch tho. What's next?" Logan smiled as he tossed the chained up body of the witch into a corner in the prison.
"We have to give Linda a funeral, then get her sister's daughter and get out of this palace," I said to her while my eyes went back to Linda.
She's now fully dead. Her eyes were closed, and there was no sign of lagging respiration from her again. She was still, and with how far I am, I could tell just how lifeless she is, and the thought of that makes me extremely sad.
I badly wanted her to survive this. This is not a fate she deserved at all, if only I was able to change that.
Logan came up from behind as his hand slipped around my waist and curved me close to him. "I'm sorry," his palm rubbed against me in consolation.
I melted into his touch, felt super safe to the point my head leaned into his chest as I let his soft warmth suppress my sadness.
"She doesn't deserve this you know." I sniffed, trying hard to keep the tears that threatened to stain my face locked beneath my eyes.
"I do, and I'm really sorry you lost her." His hand moved up from my waist to my shoulder as he greased gently on it.
"Thanks," I muttered, looking up to lock eyes with him while my hand went up to touch his that was on my shoulder. I placed my hand on his, "Thanks for being with me."
