Chapter 031
Myra's point of view
It was unlike I've ever witnessed. In all my darkest days and moments with Logan and everyone at my home pack, none has ever effected me this way or this much.
It was horrific, watching his eyes go dark into a mysterious hue filled with danger. His gaze wrapped me up like a prey he wanted to pounce on. I saw it in his eyes and I wish I didn't.
The pleasure that curled I his eyes when he noticed how scared I've gotten, he reveled in my discomfort. And as if that wasn't enough, he tried to kill me!
Was he on something? Is he a sick man?
I dazzled in multiple theories to why he'd wanted to hurt me. It's been over an hour and I've successfully came up with nothing. I just remain seated by my bed hoping seriously that there's no truth to what Logan said about him.
He doesn't seem like it, I trust him now. He won't hurt me, he cares for me, he loves me and he would never hurt me.
'You're not too sure are you?' Salome threw at me rhetorically.
I wanted to be sure, but I can't. I need an explanation for why he tried to hurt me. What suddenly happened?
The scene replayed and I shuddered, the way he'd taken a psychotic appearance and chose me as his victim.
I'm still frightened, but I ached for an explanation. So I push to my feet and stalk my way towards his office, he should be there and he better has a pretty good explanation for why his palm came to circle my neck in a not-so sensual manner.
I arrived at the office and met it empty, his fancy scent lingered in the air and I found myself savoring the smell.
If he isn't here then he should be in his room. I looked around the empty office, it has a simple yet elegant layout. The furnishing was classic and masculine at the same time.
I walked towards his desk, not sure what I was still doing in here and not on my way to his room but my feet staggered on. My hand trailed on the desk that has different papers and files scattered on them.
I picked one of them up and it was all just words and words scribbled on it. I never studied or went to school, however, I know things more than I should. Intelligent is actually my secret natural gift or talent. I could recite the alphabet and could make out most words scribbled on these papers .
Many at my home pack knows zilch unless they were sent to the city to study and adapt the vast knowledges human possessed. My father was planning to take me there himself to widen my understanding after my tenth birthday, but fate had it planned that I was going to lose him weeks after the decision. That I'd actually lose both of my happiness, and my world as I know it would become something unrecognizable.
Although, I could make out the content to these papers or files but I wasn't that interested to go through them. For some reasons I discard them and progressed with my snooping.
I saw there were three drawers on each sides of the desk, right below it with a curved handle to pull it out and push it in. Plus each drawer had a lock installed on them, meaning things kept in there are crucial and protected.
I tried my luck and pull on the handles, the first one didn't open, same with the second one, and the third. I moved to the other side and started from the third to the first, fortunately the first one pulled opened and out.
Must be my luck. My gaze fell on the files folded neatly into the rectangular space, I picked the one at the top to go through.
Call it instincts, but for some reasons I actually want to read through these and not those scattered on that table. Guesses were the one I'm holding held better and juicy information than I would get from the latter.
I flipped through the brown cover and my eyes landed on a bold written title.
'The Blue Moon's Omega Legend' was the bold written title.
"His Majesty," a voice called in disruption, and I jerked out of stance in static fright, loosing grip of the files in my hold as it slammed straight into the ground.
"Goddess, you scared me," I told the unfamiliar man that casted me a suspicious glare as he walked further into the room.
"Who are you?" He eyed me with scrutiny, as though I'm full of danger but under a disguise.
"I'm Myra, the Alpha King's mate," I responded, "I'm looking for him cause we need to talk and he's not here so I decided to entertain my curiosity, so who are you?" I pushed for a conversation as I bent down and pick up the files I'd brought out.
"I'm the King's beta, plus I don't think it's appropriate for you to be snooping around the King's privacy, Your Highness," he addressed, his head bowed.
Beta. I never knew Lucas had a beta, he doesn't seem like someone who works well with a company, he always seemed like a one man army type of guy.
"Yeah I know, but like I said, I got curious. And besides it's his fault for not locking the particular drawer like he did to the rest," I defended myself while I put the files back where I took them.
The Blue Moon's Omega Legend. What could that be about? What does it entail? My curiosity peaked with questions.
"So what's your name, and why haven't I seen you around before until now?" I tried to keep the situation friendly so he wouldn't think about informing Lucas about my action, I think if he does and Lucas is indeed suspicious and hiding something from me, then he would become more guarded to shield me from discovering the truth.
"I'm Neil, Your Highness."
"Oh please with the fancy title, just call me Myra. So where have you been, Neil? Again you've been scarce and this is literally my first time meeting you, and it's nice to meet you by the way." I flashed him a smile, desperate to keep him interested in a friendly conversation at all cost.
He stared at me for more than a minute, as though he knew what I was doing. But then it gets longer and he wasn't taking his eyes off.
Okay now it's starting to get really weird and uncomfortable, seriously what's wrong with everyone here? Literally Linda is the only one person here that doesn't seem weird at all.
"Okay," I mouthed as I excused myself from his kooky gaze.
He might need to see the Alpha King, but I started looking for him first and whatever he wanted to discuss with him can wait. I still need to know why Lucas nearly hurt me and vanish right before I could question him.
Except I arrive at him room and the sight was as empty as I met his office earlier. Where did he go?
