  Chapter 073

   Logan's point of view

Whoever was that, that came here yesterday with Myra's face was either a shapeshifter or had a spell on. I'm sure it was to trick me. But why? And who could that be?

I haven't gotten that familiar with anybody here, not even the maids or men under my control so I'm sure none knew I'm a nomad at the palace or for the Alpha. I kept a blank slate of work between us, nothing else and more.

The only person I could think of however, was no other than the Alpha King. What if he's trying to lure me out of hiding with the stunt?

He could have expected me to fall for the trap, to get seduced by Myra's clone so she could harm me and abduct me for him.

If that should be the case then my stay here is no longer safe, if he was indeed behind the trick played on me then I should assume he now knows where I am.

He could come for me any minutes from now. And yet, all my effort to get Myra out of evil clutches so far has proven futile and effortless.

I've convinced her, shown her proofs, did all I could to assure her I'm on her side, and still she wouldn't blink at my favor.

I suppose now she's no longer charmed with the King's facade, but pretty much still chained to it. I have to talk to her, and if she wouldn't listen then she would leave me no choice than to take her away the wrong way. There's no way I'm leaving her with this monster.

I had so little sleep last night, mainly because I needed to figure out who tried to trick me. The actual face beneath her mask. She touched me, abused me physically even, so it was enough connection to try and know who she was.

For hours I was curled in a monk's position busied to discover the truth to who she was, it was like she's a ghost, or she doesn't exist. Like I encountered her in my imagination of sort.

That was more reason to think the Alpha King had a hand in it, he was probably the one who has her shield away from my psychic flares.

I woke up late than usual today because of my long night awake, did my morning shit, had my breakfast, and was ready to tackle the day.

First off, I need to find Myra. I aimed to grab the door knob when I paused to the violent mental distress that gripped me whole.

My eyes shut closed, and a vision appeared over the front of my mind. In front of me was Myra, seated cheerlessly on a bed that doesn't quite look like hers. It doesn't look like she was in her room.

She had on a forlorn expression. Something is wrong with her.

"Myra," I called out to her, my voice filled with concern. Her worry has become my worry, the urgent need to locate her and ease her of whatever bothers her forced me out of the swift vision.

I opened my eyes back. The room she was in, I've seen it before. Not physically, but I definitely have. I held on to the thought as I dashed out of the house and head straight to the palace.

It was noon already so most guards weren't in sight, as well as maids, which has movements around the palace subtle and less noticeable.

I had no idea where the room was or where I was running to, I just followed my instinct that pushed me up the stairs, branched corners, and brought me at the foot of the King's chamber.

"You, what are you-" he didn't finish his statement before he fell asleep on the floor.

Myra must be inside. I rushed to the door and tried to open it, the knob however wouldn't bulge and kept still.

I knocked on the door instead, to attract attention if anyone was inside.

"What is it?" Myra's voice questioned in a mean tone, I could picture the glare on her face as well. Was she locked inside?

I stepped back to gather my strength before I launched a kick into the door, right before my kick could land, an invisible shield generated into the surface to stop my kick from smashing the door.

To be sure of what I saw, I threw another punch, and like it happened before, force field generated a shield to prevent my punch.

The door is hexed, I can't break it down or open it. Myra is now in deep trouble, and I've failed to save her. How did this even happen?

Did she confront the Alpha King about his betrayal and motive? Cause only that could have her locked up and bound.

I need to get her out, cause she's far from safe now. If she has indeed confronted the Alpha, and he in return locked her up to keep her with him, then I can no longer be patient.

I calmly approached the door and knocked on it again, "Myra are you in there?" I spoke as lightly as I can, loud enough to pitch across the door, and soft enough to keep attention out of the King's chamber. I had myself pressed with the door, my left ear merged with the surface.

"Logan!" I heard her voice, then footsteps. "Logan!" She called my name again, her voice closer. I assume she's came to the door also.

"Are you okay? Why are you locked up with a magical door that cannot be opened? Are you hurt? What's going on?" Panic gripped my system. I can't have her hurt or anything.

"Can you get me out of here?" I heard her asked, hope coating the edge of her tone. I'd be damned if I can't, I must even if it's impossible.

   Yes. I've got an idea.

"Of course I will. The door stays locked, I'll make another entrance or exit into the room," I told her as I instantly pulled away.

I moved to a different spot near the door punched the wall, cracks instantly opened into the surface. Looks like only the door is spelled.

I flexed my knuckles before I sent in another punch that this time around broke straight into the room. Blisters had painted my knuckles red, but I could care less as I continue to punch till I've created a new entrance.

"And what do we have here?" I turned around to see where the voice came from.

Lo and behold the Alpha King meters away from me, a devilish squint coupled with a smirk on his face. "If it isn't the hunted at the door of the hunter," he added.

   Shit!

Author's Note: Alas they meet, what would become of Logan's fate now. I'm scared for him.
