Chapter 091
Logan's point of view
It was nearly impossible for me to let Myra go confront the Alpha King alone and all by herself. Although it shouldn't be, given the phenomenal feats she recently demonstrated.
I went back inside to Deena. She was still unconscious and out on the floor, so I transported her to the bed.
Now that I'm fine, she and I needs to have long talk. She needs to understand that I can't be hers, that her fantasy of the both of us as endgame was never going to happen.
Laid on the bed now with me by her side, I couldn't resist the urge to read her memories and find out exactly how she became a shifter wolf. I knew what she told me earlier wasn't anything near the truth.
I could also use the opportunity to learn all about her recent escapades. I made physical contact with her as I snapped my eyes close.
She's no longer a werewolf, Myra must have done something to her. It was the first thing I noticed when I got my juice back, her head was completely silent. Which usually was never the case since I became a psychic.
My watch on her keyed on a scene from her memories, one where she engaged a mysterious woman.
I snooped around more, until I've attained the true knowledge about her disappearance. And I was right, all she had said before were lies.
Deena was never captured like she told me, she did escaped, and sought the help of a dark witch. It was this dark witch who kept me away from finding her because she has a spell on her.
This witch also triggered an ability out of Deena after she's made her sacrificed something neither I know nor Deena, it was never revealed to her, Deena doesn't know what she gave away. All she knew was she's now a gifted wolf.
She only came back after she was done with this witch. The witch has a familiar face, I feel like I know her or we're at least vaguely acquainted. I just don't remember where or how, the details are foggy.
Deena truly became a menace, she actually committed all those murders she spoke about. The one thing I however did not expect, was for her to connive with someone who wants Myra.
She never came back for me, it was to fulfill what her sacrifice demanded, and that is to apprehend Myra Alive or Dead.
How could Deena do this to me or Myra? I trusted her, she's my best friend.
I heard her groaned, as her eyes gently flapped open. She exhaled as her gaze rolled around and landed on me.
"You're here," she remarked in what sounded like a whisper, soft and low.
I couldn't help the glare that sat still on my face, either she noticed it and chose not to ask about it or she's too screwed in the head to notice.
"Deena why were you after Myra?" Whichever it was I'd know now that I've called her out.
"So I can properly lay my claim on you and tell her to back off," she responded.
"She's my mate!" My stare grew into rage mixed with shock.
"I could also be your mate, I'm meant to be your mate not her, I should be your mate," she spoke with irrationality, her gaze wide as emotions ran all over her face.
"You can't. My powers are back Deena, I read your memories, dating back to when I told you to escape from the palace, to go back to the Pack and leave me here with Myra. You never went back to the pack, and you never stayed here like you said you did. I've read it all now, so let me rephrase my question. Who sent you after Myra?" Crimson colored my eyeballs, Leo wanted to take charge, but I'm only interested to show just how serious I've gotten with her.
She crossed the line when she betrayed my trust, struck a deal with a witch and try to take away the one thing meaningful in my life.
She sighed as her head fell low with a foul look. "I just wanted you for myself, I've always wanted you for myself. Why won't you notice me?" Sobs raked into her tone as she spoke tearfully.
"That was not the question, Deena!" I growled, Leo at the verge of grabbing control and tearing her apart. It was me who held him down cause I wanted answers, he however doesn't want any answers, he simply wants her head ripped open, to make her regret trying to hurt his mate.
"Who. Sent. You. After. Myra?" The pause in each words made me sound deadlier as I leaned few inches close to her. I grabbed her by her chin and brought her face up to look into mine. "And I want straight answers."
Fear creeped into her as she shivered under my touch. "I don't know, she never told me." She bursted into tears.
"All I've done, or I'm doing, and yet to do are for you. They're all for you, for your own safety. You don't want to be with Myra, I swear by the Goddess, she's a twisted stuff. She's cursed, her life is like tangled with some devil. I wasn't told the full story, but I was made to understand that she's signed off to some evil shits. And when that evil comes for her, it's better for no one to be around her, I volunteered to get her killed before the evil comes for her so we wouldn't have to worry about our safety, yours especially," she narrated to me.
I pushed back with a sigh. Another bridge to cross when we haven't made it far yet with the Alpha King. But seriously who's in charge of our lives? We really could use a little bit of happiness, and less danger at all times.
My eyes narrowed to Deena, and saw how uneasy she looked. So I peeked into her thoughts.
'I don't think he knows, he doesn't seem like he does,' she chanted in her head.
What don't I know? What should I know? My brows creased in confusion.
"Deena what are you keeping away from me?" I questioned as I closed the space between us a little.
"Nothing-"
"You know I can read mind and hear thoughts right? You can either tell me or make me find out, and I promise to make it hurt purposely if I have to do the latter."
"I've told you everything I know-"
"Screw this." I placed both my palms at the side of her head as I dug into her head telepathically. She's keeping a secret, and I must find out what.
Her scream launched and echoed at the back of my ears, but I honestly could care less.
I made it to the furthest corner of her consciousness, where I think the secret was hidden. My eyes opened to it.
Holy. Moon. "What the fuck?!" My eyes flew open as my parted lips refuse to close up.
"Deena what have you done?" I stood up, overwhelmed by awe and a stronger sensation woven in anxiety.
