  Chapter 069

   Myra's point of view

Overnight I wondered where Logan could reside inside this palace, maybe not in the mansion, but somewhere around.

I haven't seen Lucas since he left me yesterday, and today after breakfast; he was still out of sight. I figured he's busied up with his plan to take out his sister.

After I've had my breakfast and there wasn't anything to do, I went to the field to resume training with Mark.

I got there late, he even declined to train me when he heard I've had my breakfast, said that would weakened my system and deter my muscles from a smooth operation.

I argued of course, told him it's bullshit. Later on he caved, and allowed me on the field.

To test what I've learnt so far, he dueled me, challenged that I land two hits on him while I block all of his attacks. I failed miserably. I mean he was too good, he's a trained warrior, a combat advisor, and I'm just a what? An amateur interested in the art of defense.

He snickered at my failure, and honestly it's laughable. I couldn't even land one hit, it's ridiculous.

He instructed me to join others at the workout section, he criticized my stamina level, and also complained of weak unsteady movements throughout my muscles.

I spent the rest of my morning there with them. I was already worn off by the time he called a break, and said we're done for today.

He dismissed the rest of the warriors in training. I stood on an arched back, my hands were rested on my knees as I heaved heavy breaths. Whew, this better be worth it.

Mark jogged over to where I was, "You can opt out you know? It's not mandated for a queen to know how to fight," he jeered at my distress.

I looked up, glared at him and hissed. "I didn't know becoming the queen would mean to draw my sword at any given chance." I hissed again. If it wasn't for defense, so I wouldn't be helpless in front of attacks every goddamn time, there's no reason for me to be here with him training.

"I'm not saying that, I'm just saying you can give up if you're tired."

"I suppose I visited your dream last night just to scream to you how tired I am right?"

He chuckled, "You're aggressive. Are you okay?"

   Gosh!!!!!!!

"No, I'm actually shedding invisible tears because I clawed my intestines out and sold them for a dollar. So I'm far from okay." I feigned sadness, false tears all over my face.

I don't know which part of my response sounded funny, or the way I reacted. He bursted into laughter as his palm lifted to court his mouth.

I rolled my eyes, I'm too tired for his rubbish. I need a long nap. I straightened my posture so I could walk away.

"Where are you going? I thought you were going to keep me company for the next one or two hours at least." He blocked my path before I could make a move, his lips pouted when I looked up at him.

I wheezed out a deep breath, "And why would I want to do that?" He's not even my friend.

"I want to get to know the queen better."

"I'm not even the queen yet." I scoffed, if only he knew what his alpha has planned for me. It was far from becoming his queen, and the future Luna Queen.

"Heard your coronation date is around the corner, hint at the date, for your sake I want to be around, and also put on my best dress," he spoke with an odd ardor.

My gaze on him squinted. "Why impress your queen when you can go impress your mate? Or don't you have a mate to impress?" I questioned.

His aura dipped, and the light energy that surrounded him glowered.

"Is she dead?" I asked, relating to the swift change around his countenance. I couldn't even help my voice to build some sympathy, I sounded way too dry; I'm too tired for this honestly.

"Not really," he responded, the glee to his voice gone, replaced with glum.

"I'm sorry for whatever happened," I told him. I could have asked what happened or try to understand why he became sad at the mention of his mate, but not when I could literally feel my muscles screaming for liberation.

   "Perhaps you should go-"

"She was an Alpha's daughter of pack we warred with sometime ago, she was my mate and I killed her father. I did it not on my own terms, but on my Alpha's command." He sniffed, only then did I notice his watery eyes.

Oh Goddess. 'I really don't deserve this,' I whined in my head. I just want to go shower and love my bed. I don't have enough energy to pity right now.

"I knew there's no forgiveness for what I did to her so I decided to reject her," he continued, oblivious to my disinterest at his predicament. "She rejected my rejection, said I don't get to go off easy. Long story short, she's still mated to me but married to another man. Now her revenge is to make me suffer till eternity."

I gasped at the end of his narration, yeah I might lack the enthusiasm, but his story deserves pity, my pity. "Wow." Was the only word I could muster as a response. "That's rough," I added.

"Okay fine, we can talk more about this maybe later today, but right now; I am not going to lie you, I'm fucking tired and could use a long rest. Meaning if I should stay here and talk to you, there's a big chance I'd collapse and my death will be on you too. So what's your vote?"

His mood lit up all of a sudden as he cracked a soft chuckle, "Didn't know my talks were boring you,"

"Oh they were," I fired back. And his chuckle grew into a blown laughter.

"Alright future queen, let's walk you down to your room. Or, since you're tired. What do you say I carry you back?"

It was my turn to chuckle. "Tell me you wish to die without telling me you wish to. What happens when my mate sees us, there's no assumption to what would become of your fate, it's a cruel end," I replied him as I shifted out of his path so he wasn't standing on my path again.

He turned around and walked beside me, "I too won't lie, you're honestly too good for The Alpha King. He doesn't deserve you for real,"

I laughed at that. "Are you sure? Cause I'm pretty sure omegas gets the frail end of the deal. If that's the usual case, why are you speaking in my favor? Don't tell me you're becoming attracted to me?" I had to ask, and warn him if that should be the case.

"Platonic attraction. I like you, you're a great company. What I told you today, I've never told anybody, yet I shared the secret with you after what? Two or three interactions between us.." he tsked, "Dare I say I want us to be friends?"

I hummed, "I'll think about it. For now, up the odds of my acceptance by being a better company, don't bore with me emotional talks, interest me instead with your humor. You've got couple of seconds more before we get to my room."

"And why would my gamma want to interest my future Luna." A voice cut into the background.

I recognized that stupid voice, steeled and dark. Lucas sure knows how to make an entrance. What's he even doing here?
