POV Percy

I wasn't sure how Jason had pulled it off and I wasn't entirely sure that he was the one to pull it off but right now I was sitting in a coan with Annabeth Chase.

We were a team in a race and I knew we were going to win. I always did when I was in my element. I wondered if Jason had planned it that way.

He and Piper were sitting next to each other to watch the race and So were Nico and Will, however I thought based on the conversation I had with Jason the previous day that the fact that Piper and him were sitting together was more of a platonic relationship.

The two of them did not like each other in a romantic way. Or at least Piper didn't like Jason in a romantic way.

I trained my thoughts back on Annabeth and the race. The race should take about an hour, a very long race, but this was only because it wasn't exactly a race. It was more of a competition. The goal was to get lost and be the second person back. I hoped we could win. I had a slight advantage being able to sense things in the water but it would still be difficult.

A conch horn blew and we were off. We eventually made it to a small alcove surrounded by willow trees and a small rock in the center.

"Why don't you dock at the rock and we can get off?" ANnabeth spoke for the first time. I was surprised by the timidness in her voice, she was normally a very outspoken person but now it looked like her cheeks were turning red.

"Uh, sure," I said, being sure to use my best vocabulary, I'm sure Jason would be very proud that I was able to get anything out. I could barely ever speak when I was around Annabeth while she was able to state essays in mere minutes while near me. And now it looked as if the tables had turned.

I continued speaking. "Uh, I brought a picnic basket and a blanket," I told her. "If you want to eat something while we wait. I can keep an I well I don't know what to call it sense out to see when the first person gose."

"Ok," she said.

After a moment I made up my mind. This was as good a moment as any and I fingered this was the most privacy we would get. Anyway, I had known her long enough.

"Annabeth, I like you."
