Hoseok POV

I walked home from Y/N's place, my heart still buzzing with excitement. Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough; I'd get to spend the evening with her.

As I walked inside my apartment, I was greeted by an unexpected scene. My mom sat on the couch, alongside Jiyeon.

As soon as my mom noticed me, she glared. "What's going on?" I asked, sensing tension.

Jiyeon burst out, tears streaming down her face. "You're ignoring me, Hoseok! Ever since you got close to Y/N, you've forgotten about me. You don't love me anymore!"

My mom stood up, her eyes narrowing. "Who is this Y/N?"

I took a deep breath. "She's my friend, and now she's my girlfriend."

Jiyeon's face contorted in anguish. "You're replacing me with her?"

I steeled myself. "Jiyeon, I don't love you. I like Y/N a lot, and she's better for me. She loves me for who I am, not my wealth."

My voice firm, I continued, "I'm breaking up with you."

My mom's face turned red. "Hoseok, what kind of behavior is this? You can't just discard someone like trash!"

"No, Mom," I replied, my tone firm. "She doesn't love me; she loves my money. All she wants is my wealth."

My mom's expression changed, curiosity sparking in her eyes. "Is your new girlfriend rich like us?"

I shook my head. "No."

"But—" my mom began.

"It doesn't matter how rich she is, Mom," I interrupted. "If I wanted to marry a rich girl, I would've married Jiyeon. But I want a girl who can love me, understand me, care for me, and trust me. Jiyeon is none of those."

Jiyeon's sobs grew louder, and my mom's face fell.

My mom's face hardened, her voice cold. "You're throwing away everything we've worked for. Our family's legacy, our business, our reputation. All for some girl you barely know."

"I know her, Mom," I replied firmly. "And she's worth it. Y/N is kind, genuine, and loves me for who I am. Not for my wealth or status."

My mom scoffed. "You're naive, Hoseok. Love doesn't put food on the table or secure our future. Jiyeon's family can offer us alliances and opportunities."

"I don't want those opportunities if they come with a loveless marriage," I said, standing my ground. "Y/N makes me happy, Mom. Can't that be enough?"

"Happy?" my mom repeated, disdain in her voice. "You call this happiness? You're ruining your life, Hoseok."

"I'm living my life, Mom," I corrected. "For the first time, I feel like I'm making choices for myself, not just following the path you laid out."

My mom's expression turned bitter. "You're ungrateful. We've given you everything, and this is how you repay us?"

"I'm grateful, Mom," I said softly. "But I need to follow my heart. Y/N is my choice, and I won't change my mind."

Jiyeon, still sniffling, spoke up. "Hoseok, please reconsider. We can work things out."

I shook my head. "It's too late, Jiyeon. My heart belongs to Y/N now."

My mom's face reddened. "You're going to regret this, Hoseok. Mark my words."

"I understand your concerns, Mom," I said calmly. "But I'm willing to take that risk for Y/N. She's worth it."
