Y/n POV
I drifted in and out of consciousness, Tae's soothing voice anchoring me. His words were a lifeline, pulling me back from the darkness that threatened to consume me. I felt his cool hand on my forehead, a welcome respite from the burning fever.
"Tae..." I whispered, my voice barely audible. His response was immediate. "I'm here," he reassured, his voice low and gentle. I felt his hand tighten around mine, a reassuring pressure.
"Stay with me," I pleaded, my eyes fluttering closed. Tae's grip on my hand tightened further. "I won't leave," he vowed. His promise was a balm to my frazzled nerves, calming my racing thoughts.
As the fever raged on, Tae's words became my sole focus. I felt his gentle touch, his reassuring presence. My thoughts swirled, memories of Hoseok resurfacing, but Tae's voice chased them away. "You're safe now," he whispered. I clung to his words, letting their truth wash over me.
Time lost all meaning as Tae cared for me. Medicine arrived, and he coaxed me to take it. Water followed, cool liquid on my parched lips. Tae's hand cradled my head, supporting me. As the fever slowly receded, exhaustion claimed me.
Tae's gentle voice lulled me. "Sleep," he whispered. "I've got you." I surrendered, letting his warmth envelop me. My world narrowed to his presence. Safe. Protected. Loved? No, I couldn't think that. But Tae's arms felt like home. And in that moment, that was enough.
I let myself drift off, Tae's heartbeat my lullaby. His arms were my sanctuary, a place where I could escape the darkness. As I slept, I knew Tae would be there, watching over me, keeping me safe.
I woke to the sound of Tae's gentle humming. His arms still wrapped around me, holding me close. I felt safe and protected, a sense of security I hadn't experienced in a long time.
"Tae?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.
"Hey," he replied softly. "How are you feeling?" His brow furrowed with concern.
I assessed my body, noting the lingering weakness and dry throat. "Better," I croaked.
Tae handed me a glass of water, and I sipped, feeling the cool liquid soothe my parched throat.
We sat in silence for a moment, the only sound Tae's gentle breathing. I absorbed the warmth of his presence, letting it seep into my bones.
"Hoseok," I whispered, the name escaping my lips before I could stop it.
Tae's expression turned somber, understanding etched on his face. "You had a nightmare," he said gently.
I nodded, the memory of the dream still lingering. Tae pulled me closer, his arms enveloping me.
"You're safe now," he whispered, his voice a balm to my frazzled nerves.
Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I gazed up at Tae. His eyes locked onto mine, filled with a depth I'd never seen before.
"Why are you doing this?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Tae's gaze never wavered. "Because I care," he said softly.
My heart skipped a beat. Care? Did he mean what I thought he meant? I couldn't assume, but Tae's eyes held a sincerity that made my heart flutter.
Tae's arms tightened around me, holding me close. "You're not alone, Y/n," he whispered. "I'm here for you."
