Laxus x OC ~ Mating Season

Laxus sighed sitting at the bar in Fairy Tail.
"Hey Laxus!" Cana called chugging her drink.
"Hi" he responded as sourly as he felt.
"What's up with you? You've been moping around all week."
He gave a gruff grunt and chugged the rest of his drink. He walked off without a word.
Cana watched him confused.
"Hey Elfman!!" she called. He looked over, pausing his fight with Gray. "What?!" he called back.
"Do you know why Laxus has been so moody lately?"
"Hmmm...now that you mention it I have noticed he's been a bit down."

"Ahhhhhh!" Natsu yelled jumping into the fight.
"Natsu!" Gray growled.
"Ugh...." Lucy began, "why is Laxus sitting outside just staring at a tree? It's a little creepy."
Everyone in the guild froze and went quiet. They knew things were serious.
They were silent in thought...that is until Erza spoke up.
"Hey! What's the date?"
"May 23rd" Mira answered with a sad face.
They all suddenly knew what was wrong. All except one.
"I'll go tell Master its that time of year" Mira said quickly walking up to find their guild master.

"What does the date have to do with Laxus acting weird?" Lucy asked.
"Oh that's right, you're new. You weren't here when it happened" Wendy said.
"Oh yeah. So Lucy has no clue who Manza is" Natsu said.
Lucy looked at all her new friends confused. "Manza?"
Erza nodded taking a seat close to Lucy. "Manza was a guild member a long time ago. She was abandoned as a child. She grew up with Laxus, being two years older than him. They began dating once Laxus was fifteen. They were ridiculously in love. There never was a couple so happy together. But when Laxus began his obsession with strength Manza made it clear she wasn't okay with his behavior. She left him after they had a big fight and no one has seen her since."
Lucy looked at Erza sadly. "That's so sad."
Cana spoke up. "That's not even the worst part. He mated her. Manza is the only woman Laxus will ever love and they broke up just before mating season. So every year he has to deal with the changes of mating season as well as remembering the loss of his lover."
Lucy frowned looking outside at Laxus still zoned out.

Minutes later master Markov came down with Mira right behind him.
He walked through the crowd with a serious expression on his face. He walked right to Laxus.
The guild watched with sad eyes. Laxus rose and followed his grandfather inside. He avoided everyone's gaze, casting his eyes down. Laxus hates this time of year but it was his own fault. He only blamed himself for losing the best thing he ever had. He'd been forgiven by the guild and let back in...but Manza wasn't here. She left long ago, putting as much space between them as she could.

Laxus was chained in the basement already beginning to feel the effects. He sighed exhaling loudly, little cracks of lightning escaping.
Master Markov came upstairs and met the eyes of his family. They all felt bad for Laxus.
"Natsu" Master Markov called.
The pink haired boy stepped forward looking determined and ready for what his master was going to throw at him. "Yes master."
"I want you to go find Manza."
Natsu looked at him surprised. "But no one has heard anything about her since she left."
"I know but I can't keep locking up my grandson." Markov got teary eyed and walked back to his office.

"Natsu!" Erza called. "I'll go with you. We all want Manza back."
"Count me in too" Lucy jumped in.
Natsu smiled. "Alright! Let's go!"

They set off immediately their group of five determined to help a member of their family.
"So what exactly is mating season?" Lucy asked.
"It's for dragon slayers" Erza started.
"They go nuts and look for their mates" Gray added.
"Really?" Lucy asked.
"More specifically their hormones go crazy and they look for their one true mate" Erza clarified.
"Why is Laxus being chained? Didn't you say this Manza is his mate" Lucy asked.
"She is but they've been separated so long he goes nuts just like an unmated dragon slayer would" Erza answered.
"If we don't find her Laxus will have company soon" Gray said. "In just a year Natsu should come into the season."
Natsu got in Gray's face. "Shut it you stripper."
Lucy gazed at her fried wondering what he would be like in his mating season.
