Inuyasha and his group came into a village. They walked to the temple and knocked. "Hello?" Kagome called. "Is anyone there?"
"Hello" came an old voice. An old bald man came out from the shadows. "How may I help you?" He smiled sweetly at them.
"We're looking for a place to stay the night sir" Sango said. "We were wonder if we could stay here for the night."
"I see no harm in that. My name is Yoshima, and I'd be glad to have you but I must warn you, this village is haunted."
"Haunted?" Inuyasha asked sounding skeptical.
"By what?" Shippo asked scared.
"Come inside and I'll tell you the story."
After being shown to their room and getting comfy the old man brought them to another room and made then all some tea.
"Please tell us why you think your village is haunted" Miroko asked.
"I know it is. I've seen them."
Sango and Shippo gasped.
"By ghosts?" Kagome asked.
"Of sorts" the old man said. "They're wolf spirits."
"Wolf spirits?" Inuyasha asked.
"Yes. You see our village has always been dependent on the nature around us and there is a wood sprite that lives in the forest around us. We've been at peace for hundreds of years but she's gone missing. It was a couple weeks ago that we found out that the village not far from here had trapped her. We've tried to reason with them and even give them what we could but they refuse to let her go. Ever since she's been gone these wolf spirits have been haunting the village. They come at least three times a week, howling and yipping and causing all sorts of destruction." Yoshima frowned. "I'm not sure how much longer this village will still be here. Many of the villagers want to leave, even though our ancestors tilled these very lands. Maybe it's foolish and we should just leave but I'm fond of this old temple. This has been home since I was a boy."
"Maybe we can help" Kagome said feeling bad for the old man.
"Yes!" Miroko said. "We will indeed do all we can to help out your village."
The old man smiled happily. "Oh we would all be so grateful if you could drive back those awful spirits."
That night they stayed up and waited and not long after darkness took over the land did they start to hear the distinct sounds of howling in the distance.
"Here they come" Miroko said.
Inuyasha got up from against the door.
Then wolf spirits broke from every side and ran through the village knocking over everything in their way. They flew around the village howling and swirling. They flew through the air in the hundreds. They look like regular white wolves yet they were slightly see-through.
Inuyasha swung his tetsygua. The spirit disappeared but simply just materialized a few feet away.
"I can' kill these things" Inuyasha complained.
"They need to be exorcized" Miroko yelled, holding a spell paper. He threw a spell at one of the wolfs and the wolf merely shook it off and went about on its way. Miroko was puzzled. "How?"
"Nice going monk" Inuyasha deadpanned.
"You guys wait" Sango said holding onto her weapon. "Look." Both men stopped and watched as the wolves flew around them. It was then that Inuyasha noticed that they weren't attacking. They were just flying around howling, sounding more forlorn that sinister.
