New Faces and a New Monkai

Weeks later - The entrance to Monkai Academy

Kairo and Muigetsu walked through the doors of Monkai academy with new feelings inside their bodies. Both of their arms were wrapped up their, hair was visibly longer, and they both had put on more weight. Kairo, unlike Muigetsu, had a different look in his eyes than he did before. He wasn't all fired up, he seemed different. Upon entering the school, eyes followed, some familiar faces even noticing the two that rushed towards them.

[Zeno] Kairo! Muigetsu!

Zeno was shocked to see them and couldn't help but walk up to them.

[Zeno] Where were you two? What happened?

[Muigetsu] It's a long story, but we're here now.

[Zeno] We need to get going, I'm sure Misuke is going to want to see you.

[Muigetsu] Misuke?

A couple minutes later - Inside Misuke's office

[Misuke] So long story short, you're here and ready for business?

[Muigetsu] That's right, things are different now I'm sure, but that's not gonna be a problem.

[Misuke] That's right, and you both are very behind so I'll fill you in but before I do that, you need to know who to report to. Mr. Yamachi will still be your primary instructor, however for orders you'll report directly to me.

[Muigetsu] Orders?

[Misuke] You must not know about the current dangers. We're stepping into phase two of Monkai Academy, death is almost inevitable if you're not prepared.

Muigetsu could see Kairo's hand twitch slightly, but he still stayed quiet.

[Muigetsu] We're ready.

[Misuke] You all are training to become the best version of yourselves. This means helping the city and these innocent people. Killings are rampaging and happening everyday no matter where you go. You could've gotten killed just walking to Monkai today if you were unlucky. We now get reports of the incidents that are happening around us and we're sending the best of the bunch to go out and handle it. As a reward, you increase your ranking. The higher your ranking, the higher your responsibility, therefore the higher your respect will be. You'll get access to more perks and will be rewarded more for your duties.

[Muigetsu] This doesn't even seem like Monkai...

[Misuke] The primary goal of Monkai academy is to prepare you for the outside world. This is a training ground for protections and getting into the assassin industry in the future. Most students you see here come from assassin backgrounds, nothing here should be any different. To be treated with respect, you have to gain it. To become powerful, you have to earn it. To get rewarded, you have to work for it. It's all up to you. You can choose not to strive for greater, but that will lower your success rate and decrease your chances for survival. This system was invented for the highest outcome of success, so if you're not ready, the door is that way.

[Kairo] We're ready...No need to say anymore.

[Misuke] Good...Soon you'll report to Mr. Yamachi, he is waiting for you both currently but I'd also like to inform you about two more things. Number one, soon we will have an assessment to see exactly how the students are performing, this is crucial for increasing rank which you'll learn more about as you continue to show up. Classes will be put against each other and students will fight against each other to showcase their ability. This is how you'll prove yourself and can result in promotion. Number 2, stop treating this as Monkai Academy. You're not in a school, as you know we don't have rules unless you rank. The only rule now is survive and strive, once you grow and possibly rank, you'll gain what you deserve.
