Challenge

Muigetsu and Kairo get up and get ready for school. They put on their uniform and grab their katanas and start running.

[Muigetsu] I can't believe we missed basically our whole day yesterday.

[Kairo] Yeah I know, I'm still feeling pretty bad from yesterday but, I'll manage.

[Muigetsu] If we didn't have these injuries man, we could've done way more.

[Kairo] We still did pretty good, he was way stronger than us anyway. One cocky bastard too. We'll be the first people to beat him for sure next time.

[Muigetsu] For sure.

Monkai Academy

Kairo and Muigetsu walk into the first period class and sit down at their desks. Renaldo has been injured since yesterday and has wraps on his head. He walks up to Kairo and Muigetsu who were sitting in the back.

[Renaldo] Trust me, this isn't over. I'll show you!

[Kairo] *yawn* Yeah yeah.

Mr. Waruena walks in and prepares to start teaching. Kairo and Muigetsu get through the first period and then they go to their second period class.

MKSA- Second Period

Muigetsu and Kairo put their swords on the wall in the back of the classroom next to the other students' swords. They grab the wooden ones in the back and get to their positions. They warm up like they did yesterday and spar for ten minutes before Mr. Yamachi calls for their attention.

[Mr. Yamachi] Everyone, line up and grab your swords. Taizuchi and Zeno grab the mats and equipment and bring them outside.

A little while after

They were behind the school, Taizuchi and Zeno began rolling up the mats.

[Mr. Yamachi] As you see, we have a good bit of mats here. Today we will be slicing them. We will have three stages. First you will only have to slice it once, a simple task. You just cut right through the mat, a nice clean cut through. Next, there will be a double slice, you will have to cut the mat twice in one go. A less simpler task. Finally, here in these large bags I have here are solid rock pillars. You'll have to cut through these in order to pass.

All of the students were shocked. How were they supposed to cut through solid rock?

[Mr. Yamachi] If you can't cut through these rocks, you fail and get an F for the day. Do I have any problems?

Mr. Yamachi looked at the students, they were all just frozen, but no one said a word even though all were opposed to it. Taizuchi and Zeno got in line along with the other students and they began. Mr. Yamachi put one mat on the tameshigiri holder. The mats were made out of bamboo and required some force to cut all the way through.

[Mr. Yamachi] Begin.

The first student stepped forward, he easily sliced right through the mat. Mr. Yamachi put the next one on and the other students prepared to cut. Kairo and Muigetsu were still thinking about the rock pillars.

[Kairo] *in his head* Solid rock pillars?! That's like cutting through bedrock! There's no way I can do that! But if I don't, I'll fail. Don't focus on that now, just calm down, just focus on the task ahead.

It was Kairo's turn to cut the mat now; all the other students before him succeeded the task.

[Mr. Yamachi] Begin.

Kairo drew his sword and raised his sword. He sliced cleanly through the mat. He walked over to the other students.

[Mr. Yamachi] Good. Next.
