To be clear, these two characters are based on their respected characters from two serperate series. This is not a crossover ships as they both live in the Sonic Expanded Universe, Baldur is not same one from the actual God of War games and Brunhilde is not the same one from the anime Record of Ragnarok. They just similar in personality, some element of their backstory, and character design.
Baldur x Brunhilde is my first ever what I called "Non-Canon Myth Couple" which are two characters from the same mythology and folklore have never been together, interactions, or connection in a romantic kind of sense. I paired Baldur and Brunhilde due to their connection, Baldur is the son of Freya who is the leader of the Valkyrie and she actually as like a mother/ big sis figure to Brunhilde and her sisters.
Baldur is based on his character from God of War 2018 and Brunhilde is based on her character from Record of Ragnarok. I gotten back into God of War thank to the Death Battle between him and Asura (which is also how I also gotten into Asura's Wrath) and many of MythologyGuy's Inaccuracies videos of God of War, I also learn about Record of Ragnarok thank to him. I played only Chain of Olympus and my personal favorite Ghost of Sparta on the PS3 along with the Demo of God of War 3, long ago I did got into God of War 2018 as it was different and I didn't see all the cutscenes as my only knowledge of Norse is Thor, Odin, and Loki, I can't believe I missed Baldur as he become my personal favorite villains then later learn about GoW: Ragnarok was already released and love that Thor, Odin, and to others.. Months ago, I watch Record of Ragnarok back when it was only 2 seasons, to be honest I enjoy the anime along with the many gods but most importantly the Valkyries and humans, I like the many Valkyrie as sisters with unique traits and learning about some of the humans who I never actually heard like Lu Bu, Kojiro Sasaki, Raiden Tam, Qin Shi Huang, Soji Okita, and Simo Hayhas, I know heard about Adam, Gregori Rasputin (thank to Anastasia), Buddha, Jack The Ripper, Leonidas, Nikola Tesla, Kintaro, along with slightly heard about Nostradamus.
When I got into Mythology and incorporate it into my Cinos Saga, specifically the Cinos Aftermath as it made it a sub-arc called Gods & Monsters. Back them, I only used what is familiar to me as I did know the website Myth in Media yet so I just browse through Internet for anything mythology for games, movies, and animes. When I paired Baldur and Brunhilde, I can't find anything about Nanna but saw he named Forseti, meanwhile for Brunhilde I saw that Siegfried is her husband but S3 wasn't out and original ignore him as never existed.
Later on, I thought the idea that Odin sent him a wild goose chase as Odin faked that he died on Brunhilde's wedding, Odin did this as he saw Baldur have a crush on Brunhilde for a long time but she already a boyfriend, the King of Asgard decided to get rid of the competition to make his son happy as they eventually get married and have their own family, plus now Brunhilde is a princess but doesn't like the title. They have three kids after their marriage which is Forseti who is based on Record of Ragnarok while the other two are daughters who are different designs of Brunhilde from other games who I repurpose as other characters who are Aslaug who based Grand Alliance's Brunhilde (who is Sigrid's daughter in the myth but not in my version) and Sigurd who is based on Valkyrie Crusade's Brunhilde who is named after Siegfried (this reference to a story which Brunhilde is Siegfried's mother and Gunther is the father).
I this pairing is to me a love letter to God of War and Record of Ragnarok.
