In the original 2003 series, Raptarr and Mephos are Avians who were best friends but lost it when they have different point of view about their future, Raptarr think they should leave the human alone meanwhile Mephos things they should rule. Avians were humans that were mutated by the sun crystals.
My 2012 version of the two characters are brothers who have the appearance of teenagers 15-17 but are actually over 10,000 years old. The two were saved along with the others slaves by Baron Draxum when Y'Lyntias was coming down, the two joined him on his quest of a better future for mutant kind. I based my version of Raptarr and Mephos on Pit and Dark Pit, Zack and Cody, and various other twins. They also have their own love interest which for Raptarr is Versallia (inspired by DeviantArt user SpaceMeta) meanwhile Mephos is Angel Bridge.
