The steel beam refused to move.
Awase had welded my right web-shooter against it. Bondo's glue covered the metal and most of my forearm, leaving me hanging with my arm stretched above my head.
My boots scraped against the ground, but most of my weight rested on my shoulder.
Kamakiri stood in front of me with one blade against my chest. Awase and Bondo blocked the lane while Setsuna's scattered body continued fighting Bakugo beyond the steam.
I pulled again.
My shoulder burned, but the beam barely shook.
Kamakiri looked disappointed. "You're supposed to be the leader of the Young Avengers."
"Former leader," Setsuna's mouth corrected as it floated beside him.
Her eye appeared above it.
"Neighbourhood's Number One," she added. "Everyone in our class wanted a chance to fight Spider-Man."
Kamakiri tapped my chest with his blade. "I expected more."
I did too.
My body still possessed more strength than an ordinary person, but it felt like nothing compared to what I remembered. Every movement required effort. My Spider-Sense warned me about attacks my body was no longer fast enough to avoid.
I tried using my legs to push against the wall.
The restraint held.
My body dropped, sending another jolt through my shoulder.
Awase winced. "Keep doing that and you'll tear something."
I turned my free hand towards Kamakiri.
One web-shooter remained.
Before I could fire, two floating hands dropped from above. One struck my wrist aside while the other unfastened the device and pulled it away.
Setsuna carried it out of reach.
"No more tricks."
I reached for the shooter.
Her hands climbed higher.
Kamakiri smiled. "No webs. One arm trapped. Your team is losing."
He wasn't wrong.
Jiro remained stuck to the ground. Kaminari had one foot covered in glue, and Bakugo was being forced farther away from us.
If I continued pulling, my shoulder would fail before the beam did.
If I waited for help, Class 1-B would capture the others first.
I stopped struggling and studied the restraint.
Most of Bondo's glue had gathered around my wrist and the welded shooter. The layer beneath my elbow was thinner. Awase couldn't separate what he had fused, and Bondo couldn't move me without adding more glue.
They still needed to get me inside the cage.
That meant cutting the beam.
Only one of them could do it.
"You know I have to be inside the cage for this to count," I said.
Awase glanced towards the capture area. "I can weld the beam onto a smaller piece."
"That'll take too long," Bondo warned. "Bakugo is getting closer."
An explosion shook the nearby building.
I looked at Kamakiri. "You could cut me free."
Setsuna's mouth frowned. "He wants you to."
"I know," Kamakiri said.
