Ellie's POV

Once Zi zi was up, I returned the things to where I found them the night before, and headed off for Agasa's house. Retracing my steps, I eventually found it.

Before knocking, I cheeked myself in a puddle. Apart from my uncombed hair, I looked presentable. The rain had washed off my clothes and they air dried in the night.

I half hid Zi zi in the hood of my jacket, because who knows how they would react if I showed up with a random stray cat... Maybe I can give him in a bath before we see KID...

It was still kind of early, yet I could here Agasa tinkering away. I took a deep breath. Why did I get nervous around anyone from the anime? I knocked.

Agasa appeared in record time with black ashes covering his face. He took of his glasses to wipe them off.

"Good morning, Ellie. You have a good nights rest?"

"Seeing as I got up this early, apparently..."

He moved to the side so I could enter. Conan was sitting at the counter, drinking (I assume) coffee. I sat on the couch.

"So... when are we going to Tropical land?"

"KID said at 8pm, when the park closes. that way, we can talk in privacy. Only me, you and Agasa are going."

"What about Haibara?"

"She didn't want to come. Something to do with 'errands to run'"

"And the Jr.-" I stopped myself. I don't know them yet, stupid!

"What?"

"Nothing..." I looked away, hoping he hadn't noticed. Agasa had left again. Why do I keep ending up alone with Conan?! Its soooooo awkward!!!

"Is something bothering you?" I thought back to last night. Should I...? No, he doesn't believe in witches and magic. Maybe I'll ask Kaito...

"No."

We sat there, me on the couch, him on the stool. I was looking anywhere but at him, yet I could feel his eyes burning a hole in my head trying to get the information out of me. He was definitely suspicious... About what though? Which thing that I knew did he want to know? I am so bad at telling lies...

Conan's POV

How on earth did she know who the Jr. Detective League is? She hadn't directly said it, but who else did I know who would want to come and started with Jr.? Don't tell me they're famous in America! There is NO WAY she should know them!!!

Even though I couldn't see her face, I could see her struggle. She knew I was suspicious, why didn't she spill it? Fine. You want to play hard? I will eventually find out... I turned back to my coffee. I feel so evil, threatening Ellie with my thoughts.

"So... how old are you really?" I asked, changing the subject.

Ellie's POV

"So... How old are you really?" Umm... do I tell him the truth? I could mess with him and say 80 or something... no, that's mean.

"Younger then you, I believe."

"Buy how much?"

"Depends. I just know your in high school, so..."

"Come on, stop the riddles."

"8"

Conan sweat dropped. "Really...? I can see that, you know..." I could almost hear him say 'Oi oi' in the background.

"I mean 8th grade, stupid." I looked at him with the derpiest face I could create. "And you can yourself a detective. Was it not obvious?" I couldn't help but smile to myself. He almost chuckled too. Almost.

"And 'Ellie' is quite a unique name... how did you come up with it? Assuming you lied about your identity..."

"Yah, that's a lie. I have, like, a billion cousins and Ellie is one of them. She popped into my mind because my family was going to visit her family soon and, well, you know..."

"Makes sense." Conan spaced out a bit, taking another sip for his drink.

Another awkward pause.

"...So what are we going to do until tonight? And if your thinking about my real name, forget it. I'm not ready for that quite yet."

"No, no, I wasn't thinking about that." He totally was. He smiled teasingly, printing 'GUILTY!!' all over his face. "As of passing time, I thought we should start making those fake documents for you. Todays Sunday, so we're going to have to prepare you to start tomorrow."

"About that... I was wondering if I could wait a week? I'd like some time to settle down and -"

"And you can't read Japanese, can you."

I blushed. "That too..." See what I mean? I'm a terrible liar.

Conan pretended to think hard about the choice he already decided on. The answer was no. I knew it.

"Sure, but you'll have to have someone home school you until your ready."

I jumped up from the couch, my eyes sparkling. "Really?!?!"

"Why not? But you need to at least learn the basics in reading and writing if we'll postpone it. You want to find a tutor, or have someone I know do it?"

"I'd say Agasa, but he's probably not a good teacher. I'd like it if it was someone I already knew... could, maybe..." I felt silly asking this..."Haibara scares me, so... could..."

He could see where I was going with this. "I... would rather not, really..."

"Oh... ok..." I acted hurt, and sat back down. Actually... maybe...

I looked at Conan. He looked back at me. "I would like to meet... Ran... if that's possible..." The second I realized what I said, I knew my mistake. I don't know who Ran is... Conan stared at me like I had two heads.

"How do you...?" He zoned out.

I grabbed a pillow off the couch and repeatedly slapped myself. "STUPIDSTUPIDSTUPIDSTUPID!!!!!!!!!!!" My yelling snapped him back to reality. He jumped up and grabbed the pillow so I'd stop hitting myself.

"I can explain..." I felt deep dread about what he would do next. How do I explain this??

"Ok, HOW do you know the Jr. Detective league AND Ran!? Who else do you know?!?!?! Have you been STALKING me or something?!?!?!"

I buried myself in my hands. "I am soooooooo stupid..."

Conan rolled his eyes. "You've said that already..."

Then, to make things even weirder, Zi zi climbed out of my hood. I'd completely forgot! He sat on my lap and meowed for food.

Conan looked at the dirty cat, then at me again. "Can you also explain the cat while your at it?"
