52 Confusing Heiji

Ellie's POV

I ran and giggled, calling out the next few lines to my chant trying to drown out my chaser's insults. "FIRST COMES LOVE!! SECOND COMES MARRIAGE!! THIRD COMES THE BABY IN THE BABY'S CARA - "

BAM!!

I fell to the ground with a thud. I rubbed my head in pain, then looked behind me again. Kaito and Aoko will be on me any second!! I stood up to run again when something picked me up. Or rather, someone.

"HEY, PUT ME DOWN!!" why is everyone picking me up today?!?!

"An' might I ask why ya weren't looken' where ya were goin' when ya ran into me? What if ya ran into a wall? Ya could've gotten hurt!"

"Heiji?!"

The Detective of the west turned me around so we were face to face. "An' just how do ya know my name?" UGH I DID IT AGAIN!!!

"Uhh... friend of Conan?"

He looked doubtful, and opened his mouth for another question when I was snatched from his hands by Kaito. Before I got punched or something (I doubt Kaito would do that to a little kid in public, but just in case) I slipped away from them both and ran up a nearby tree.

Aoko had given up and sat down against the trunk panting. You'd think she has a longer stamina because she's always chasing Kaito, but I guess not. Said magician, on the other hand, followed me so I got cornered on a thin branch that was barely out of his reach and couldn't hold me very well. If this doesn't end soon, it'll snap and I'll fall.

Conan finally caught up to us and started yelling at me about who Kaito and Aoko are and why they're so mad at me. I just smirked down on Heiji because this proves Conan knows me. When he saw that I wouldn't answer, he started questioning Aoko but she's too tired to care.

As if things aren't bad enough, Ran comes around the corner and she must have found Sonoko and Heiji's girlfriend what's-her-name at some point so now they're all next to Heiji asking him what is going on here who is trying to explain best he can which isn't every well due to how he's just as lost as they are.

Everybody is making a scene so people are starting and I'm blushing and wishing they would all just go away and ignore us which won't be happening anytime soon.

Then I spotted her. Rory. She's watching from behind the Mystery Coaster. I can't see her expression but I bet you anything it's another sweat drop. She's judging me. I can feel it!!

Not long after I saw her, she turned and ran again. "NO!! WAIT!!" I jumped down the tree (and Kaito's head) and our chase continued.
