30 Another Small Chat

Haibara's POV

The front door opened and Zi zi jumped from my lap to go see who it was, knocking my book to the floor in the process. Dumb cat... this is why I don't like pets. Although he was good company...

I picked the book up again and attempted to find my place again. No luck.

"You sure you don't want me to drive you home?" I overheard Agasa asking Ellie from the door way.

"I'm fine, but thanks! I just came in to get Zi zi, so see you around! Bye Agasa, bye Conan!" The cat meowed a good bye as she left the house.

Conan came into the living room and flopped onto the couch next to me. "I feel like she's hiding where she lives for a reason, don't you?"

"We got more important things to worry about, Haibara."

"Like what?"

"They know."

"What? How could they?"

"I don't know, but they do. I encountered them after the meeting with KID. Gin tried to shoot me, but some girl saved me first. She claimed to be an allie of mine, but her clothes matched the Black Organisation's outfits. Maybe she's a double agent... Anyways, she knocked me out and when I woke up, Ellie was asking me why I was in the lost and found."

"Lost and found?"

"I think it was supposed to be a joke. She knew KID and Ellie were there, and that they would be looking for me."

I gave him a weird look. "That's a dumb joke."

"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!! THE BLACK ORGANIZATION HAS FIGURED OUT MY, AND PROBABLY YOUR, IDENTITY!!!!"

"Calm down, hot head. I know that. Does Ellie?"

"No, the gun had a silencer and no one really screamed too loud. I didn't tell her about it, and she never mentioned anything about it, so I think they never for her or KID. However, she is suspicious."

"By the way, what did KID tell you?"

"Well, apparently Ellie's real name is Sophie and she lived with Akako - that witch she told me about - for 2, maybe 3 months. They wanted to stop the BO from doing something to KID, and so they broke in and stole the APTX 4869's formula."

"Wait, hold on. Your telling me that SHE was able to do that?! ELLIE did that?!?! SHE IS THE MOST CHILDISH PERSON I'VE EVER MET!!!!!!!!!!"

"Calm down, hot head." Conan snickered. "You jealous she got to it before you?"

"Aren't you?!?!?! She got what we where working for a year so get in 2 months!!!!!"

"I know, but what if we could get her to do it again?"

"What?"

"She's done it once, so......"

"That would never work."

Conan shrugged. "Worth a shot. Anyways, she was discovered and KID saved her. The next day, Akako betray her and she fell into the hands of them. Akako was planing to do that from the beginning though, and had been working with some people inside the organisation. They got their formula back, and a test subject to test a theory they've had for a while. She ate it, and KID saved her again. He didn't mention if they saw her shrink or not.... maybe that's how they know. Akako must have wiped her memories. After that, KID didn't trust leaving her on her own again, and so he made me look after her."

"Yet you don't even know where she lives now."

"...True....."

"Did KID tell you who Akako was working with?"

"No. And when he was talking about the second rescue, he was about to say something, but stopped himself. He smiled while looking at the stars, as if remembering something. I asked him what, but he said it was nothing. I feel like his story could be just a ton of lies. His story and Akako's don't match up at all."

"Conan, she's a witch, he's a thief. Neither of them can be easily trusted."

Conan yawned. "I'll think about this more tomorrow... Good night Haibara."

"Wait, your sleeping here?"

"Didn't you know? Ran allowed it. How else could I go to Tropical Land so late at night?"

"Ok, well, good night." He left the room. Alone again. I sighed.

Why do so many people keep so many secrets? I guess I'm guilty too, but...
