"Hello?", I ask when I picked up the call from Zoe.
"Hey, love. Why did you call me yesterday. Sorry I didn't pick up, me and Louise had a girls night. You should come next time!"
I sigh in relieve, it is Zoe. She is okay.
I feel Dan grab my hand, squeezing it, with a worried look on his face.
"You there?", Zoe asks.
"Um- eh, I- it's just that...". I can't bring out words. They told me she was in an accident, I worry myself sick and now she acts like nothing ever happened?
"Y/N? You okay mate?", she laughs.
I look at Dan for help. "It's Zoe.", I mouth, "she's completely fine. Nothing happened."
Dans expression changes from worried to angry. Then he snatches the phone out of my hand and snaps at Zoe: "Are you guys actually fucking kidding me?"
I hear a muffled "Oh, hey Dan.".
"No, what the fuck is wrong with you. Both of you. You had Y/N, and I, worried sick last night and that's all she gets? You acting like nothing ever happened?"
He puts the phone on speaker so I can hear her response: "What? Oh, OH! Oops.", she laughs before continuing, "sorry, forgot that happened! Louise and I were filming a truth or dare video video. It's going to be hilarious!"
Dan looks at the phone in shock.
"Yeah, oops, you are not serious right now, are you? Didn't you hear what I just said? Y/N was up crying and worrying all night and all she gets is a quick 'sorry'?"
"Dan.", Zoe says, "it was a joke. You have to stop being so overprotective, she's old enough to speak for herself. Get over yourself.", she spits.
"Well, she doesn't want to speak to you and she has the full right to feel like this. Bye and call again when you're not out of your mind anymore", he says and ends the call.
And probably mine and Zoes friendship.

I spent the rest of the day in bed, trying to process what happened. It may not seem like a big deal, but, the whole time I thought my best friend had died and that's all I get. I feel so betrayed because she didn't care to clear up the oh-so-funny prank on me.
Dan on the other hand is just angry at them at this point.
Even though I am glad he handled the situation for me, I can't hep but feel lost.
I do want Zoe to be my friend but what she did wasn't okay. At all.

"Babe?", Dan says while walking into the room, "hey, you can't stay in bed all day. Let's do something, let's distract you."
I just shrug my shoulders.
He sits next to me and puts my head in his hands.
"Y/N, don't think about it, it will work out in the end.", he tells me and kisses my shoulder.
I sigh. I don't feel like doing something.
"Come on, you and I will go to a nice dinner, just the two of us."
"Really?", I say, looking up to him.
"Yes, I'm treating you the way you should be treated and I know we don't really do dates, but I'll try my best to be alright, okay?"
"Okay."

An hour later, both Dan and I are ready to head out, the taxi already waiting outside.
"Bye Phil!", he shouts while waking past the lounge.
"Where are you guys up to?", he shouts back.
"I'm taking the princess on a magic carpet ride."
"Calm down, Aladin. Be careful and make her feel special, or I'll kill you.", says the not so intemedating Phil.
I love my friends.

The place we're going to is indeed really fancy. Even the waiters are painfully nice. And Dan does make me feel special.
"Cheers.", he says raising a glass of wine.
"Cheers."

We spent the next hour talking and laughing, which the other guests seem to find odd by the looks they give us.
"So, what do you think about a summer holiday this year?", Dan asks.
"Summer holiday? And you? I can't even get you to wear shorts when it's over 30 degrees, mate.", I laugh.
"I was thinking Iceland."
I almost spit out my wine: "You serious? I'd love to go, but you know we promised mum to come home."
"We promised mum. We're not married yet.", he laughs.
"I know, but my dad calls you son anyways."
"True that. But um- do you want to get married some day?", he asks.
"To you?", I say sarcastically.
"Yes.", he says in all seriousness before bursting out laughing again.
"Well, we'll have to see. But about the holiday, we could spend a week in Switzerland and then from there, fly to Iceland. Deal?"
"Deal."
