Zoe lets out a heavy sigh before starting to talk: "Basically, Joe just told me that Alfie really doesn't want you guys to be... together, I guess. And he thinks Joe would be better for you.
Y/N, Alfie really doesn't like Dan and you together."
My mouth drops: "Is he serious? Why can't he not leave us alone? It's none of his business first of all. What did Joe say about that?"

Zoe looks down at her hands, which seems like her top priority right now.

"Zoe?", I say and pat her hand.

She looks at me with a frustrated expression: "He loves you."
"I love him too.", I smile and stroke her arm, trying to smile.

"No, he is in love with you."

I suddenly stop and put my hands down: "What?"

She just nods and drifts into a different world.

It takes me a few moments to process what she just said.

I don't even know how long we sat there, both in our different world's.

"I have to go.", I say, pick up my bag and head out.

Thankfully there are cabs all around, so I can easily catch one and head to Dan and Phil's place.

"You okay, sweetheart?", the taxt driver asks.
"Yea..", I reply and force a smile.
"Love can be though", he says and gives me an incurraging smile through the mirror.
"How do you-", I start but get cut off by him: "It's not hard to tell what's on your mind, love."

I flatten my shirt and ring the doorbell.
Phil opens the door immediately: "Oh hey! Didn't expect to see you here!", he greets me with a warm smile.
I smile back and go inside, right past him and up to Dan's room.

Without even knocking I open the door: "Dan, I have to-". But Dan isn't in the room. Neither is he in the bathroom or the lounge.

"He's not home.", Phil shouts from the kitchen.
"Where is he?", I say, entering the kitchen.
Phil turns around wearing a ridiculous apron that makes me chuckle: "Not sure sorry."

I nod and dial his number. No response, just the dim sound of a muse song from his bedroom.
He left his phone at home, which is extremely rare.

Somehow, I know exactly where he is.
I take his phone, go outside and head to my destination.

Not even 10 minutes of walking later, I arrive at the café we first met at.
And not to my surprise, he is sitting inside cupping a mug and starring into the air.

He seems complete out of it. Even when I sit down in front of him, he doesn't seem to notice. His airy eyes stare right back at me, without really looking.

I put his phone down in front of him, he takes it and puts it into his pocket, without saying a word.

Eventually he gets up and heads to the door.
"Dan?", I try to get his attention, failing miserably.

Obviously I follow him outside and pick up on his pace quickly.

"Talk to me.", I say.

He doesn't, but just grabs my hand, taking me to a nearby, empty park that is glowing in the light of the moon.

"I'm sorry.", he begins.
"What for?"
"Just being me I guess."
"What?"
"Babe, Y/N, I'm sorry I'm not good enough for you", he says.
"Oh my god. Do you actually believe him? Dan, I love you. You know that, right?"

He takes a deep breath before letting go of my hands, crossing his in front of him: "I don't know. I know that I love you but he's right and I am right. I knew I wasn't, am, good enough for you, all along."

"Oh wow, okay, believe him over me. That's cool."
"I don't 'believe' him, he just made the feelings I had all along come out again.
You know I love you more than anything. Thats why I want you to have the best you can. That's not me."
"No."
"Yes."
"Fuck you, Dan. How do you 'love me', when you say things like this."
"I love you."
"Oh no, really, shut up. You're stupid, Dan. You know exactly that I love you. Only you.", I pause for a second, "is it- are you- do you just want to get rid of me? Are you using this as an excuse?"
"No.", he shakes his head.
"Why are you being like this then?"
He sighs: "I told you. I love you."

Dan leans in and gives me a last, long, loving kiss before turning away and fading away with the darkness of the park and leaving me behind.
