Chapter Thirty-Three

"Hello Internet", Dan starts the video.
"So today I am joined by...", he points to Phil "Phil" and me "and Y/N, and today we are going to film the bestfriend vs. bestfriend challenge to see who actually listens to me."
"What's the price?", I ask.
"My endless love I guess?", he says.
Phil and I look at each other in disgust.
"This is our get-away!", I say and they both laugh.

The first question is simple.
"What is my favorite band?"
I press my buzzer: "Muse!"
"Correct, one point for Y/N!", Dan says and Phil makes a fake pouty face.

The whole video goes really well until the last question: "What is my biggest regret?", Dan asks.
"Not asking out Y/N!", Phil bursts out.
"Phil,", Dan says, "you didn't even press your buzzer." "Oh," Phil says and presses it this time, "Not asking out Y/N!"
"Correct!", Dan laughs.
I look at them and raise my eyebrow.
"Wow, guys." I say.
They both laugh and Dan continues speaking: "So looks like they tied! Didn't expect that if I'm ho-", but I interrupt him. "Dan, are you actually putting in the last part?" "Yes, they'll understand it's a joke.", he turns back to the camera and finishes the video: "Don't forget to check out Phil like always, but don't try to find her online, she'll be kept in my bubble and I'm not letting anyone take her.", he says and smiles at me.
"I feel like the third wheel", Phil says and laughs.

Dan goes right to editing the video that night. I sit on my phone next to him.

"I'm done", he says a bit later and gives me the laptop to watch the video.

I actually really like it, it's funny and easy going.
After I calm down from laughing, I say: "It's so good!"
"Yay, I'm glad you like it, it'll come out in about a week."

Another 10 minutes later he nudges my shoulder: "Want to go to times square now?"
"Yes!"

This time we don't get distracted by anyone. We walk around and watch the lights. We even get some embarrassing NYC merchandise and head back to the hotel at 10 pm.

I look through the pictures we took on my phone while sitting on the balcony. One of them stands out to me. It shows Dan in the middle of times square with the lights behind him.

"Wow, really can't get enough of me, can you?", he says when he sits down next to me with a bottle of wine and two glasses.
"I was just looking mate.", I tell him and pour in the wine.
"Cheers?", he says, holding up the glass.
"Cheers."

We sit on the balcony just talking about everything and anything when the alarm on my phone went off.
"Shit, Dan it's already 4 am, we've got to be downstairs with our luggage in an hour."
"Fuck."

Thankfully we get everything sorted and are downstairs at 5 am.

We hop into the mini bus and drive to our next stop, Philadelphia.

We arrive around 2 and a half hours later and go straight to our hotel.
I couldn't sleep on the bus so I am exhausted.

This time around we have separate rooms, but Dan still comes back to mine.

It's smaller this time, but definitely cosier and sweeter.
We crash onto the bed and fall asleep right away.

I wake up at 3 pm, without Dan next to me. I grab my phone and see a couple of new messages.

Dan: I went to my room to finish some email stuff, see you later?
Y/N: Okay and sure.

Zoe: Hey, how are you?
Y/N: Good, wbu? I'm really enjoying a big bed to myself.
Zoe: Ah, finally. What are you up to today?
Y/N: Nothing really, meeting Dan later to do something.
Zoe: ;-)
Y/N: Stop it!
Zoe: You guys, still just friends?
Y/N: Yes and it'll stay like that for a while.
Zoe: You sad about that?
Y/N: Not really, I like how it is now, but I don't want it to stay like this forever.
Zoe: What does he have to say about that?
Y/N: I'm cofused about it, he's being flirty but not making any moves.
Zoe: Why's that anyways?
Y/N: He said that he's not ready for a relationship and he's busy. Plus I don't know if we work that way.
Zoe: Don't be silly, you're made for each other!
Y/N: :/
