Chapter Seventy-One

"And who are your best friends?", I ask Zoe when I put down the last box.

She wipes her forehead and sits down on the floor: "Well, Louise and you. That's the people I talked about it to most. I only talked about the stuff revolving Alfie and I to everyone else."

"Hm, I still can't wrap my head around who did it. Joe obviously didn't do it. Do you know about Alfie?"

"Not sure if I'm honest, but we have to work with him if we want to figure this out."

"You're right. Dan won't be happy about that, but we all have to do this together."

Zoe nods and gets up to get her phone so she can text Alfie.

Shortly after she shows me the text.

Alfie: I wouldn't do something like that. The articles shocked me when I saw them, I would never hurt my career by spreading rumors.

"We just have to believe him and he's right I guess.", Zoe says and sighs.

I go over to her to hug her: "Don't worry, it'll all work out. Did you guys talk about the whole situation?"

"Yea, we talked it all out and both think it's best to separate for now. He'll find a new flat soon too.", she sighs again before continuing, "I'm really jealous of Dan and you. You guys are literally perfect for each other and he treats you incredibly well."

"Aw, Zoe. I'm sure you'll find someone amazing for you. You are a beautiful, smart and loving girl. No need to worry trust me."

She just shrugs and tightens the hug.

A few moments later, I continue: "By the way, I am incredibly sorry for what happened. I can't help but think I'm the reason for you and Alfie splitting, I know how much you loved him."

She separates from the hug, grabs my shoulders and looks me in the eyes: "Don't be silly. It's not your fault at all. I'm so glad I have you as a friend and wouldn't trade our friendship for anything."

"Thank you Zoe, I love you."

"Love you too, Y/N"

Later that day, Joe comes over as well so he can help us.

"I'm going to kind of miss you actually.", he says after he finishes talking about the tour he is going on for two months.

"Well we are going to be just fine without you.", I laugh and jokingly punch him in the shoulder.

"When are you leaving again?", Zoe asks, who brings in some pizza she ordered.

"On Wednesday, but before I can leave in peace I have to get some stuff done."

"What's that?", I nudge.

"Well, firstly I want to help Zoe finish settling in and I also want to talk to Alfie and especially Dan. Kinda sick of fighting with everyone, even though I won't forgive Alfie for lying to me and breaking my sisters heart.", he replies with a forceful smile on his face.

"Aw Joe. I'm glad you want to talk to them. I'm sure you and Dan will work it out.", I says.

He sighs: "Yea, hope so. What do you want to do about the whole rumor situation?"

Zoe swallows her pizza before replying: "We definitely have to all work together and figure out who spread the rumors."

I am just about to say something when I receive a new email.

The title stands out to me:
