•ten? nine?

•yeah around that age

•and John always hears his father saying how he'll find a woman one day and whenever he had a girl friend over Henry would joke"I can already hear the wedding bells!"

•but John never really felt those feelings towards girls

•John is also best friends with Alex

•and he's over at Alex's house playing one day

•John kinda falls into his mind a little and begins connecting strings and he ends up realizing he likes Alex

•John feels as if he's gonna cry

•so he says he has to go to the bathroom and runs off

•and because he's so scared he begins crying

•he stays in there for a while

•and eventually there's a knock at the door

•"John? Are you okay?"

•John freezes because he's terrified and doesn't want to talk to Alex yet

•so Alex just says

•"I'm gonna go get Martha, John."

•which causes John to almost have a heart attack

•and then there's knocking at the door and Martha is asking so come in

•so John unlocks the door and Martha slips in

•"John? Honey, what's wrong?"

•John rubs at his face

•"I-I like Alex."

•Martha instantly knows what he means

•so she pulls him into a hug and tells him that it's okay and helps him clean his face off so it doesn't look like he's been crying

•and when Martha and John go out Alex is waiting eagerly

•he jumps up when he sees John and runs towards him

•"Wanna go back to playing?"

•John looks back to Martha and she smiles and gives him a nod

•John turns back around and grins, running off with Alex

•Martha walks back into the kitchen where George is and he asks her "What'd you do?"

•Martha smirks and sips at her tea "I was a fucking badass parent, George. Take notes."

•George scoffs "Sure, darling."

•years later during John and Alex's wedding Martha elbows her husband and says "See! I told you to take notes!"
