•I got this out of another fic so props to the one fic on AO3 I read last night

•John is the popular one and Alex is the fuckface kid nobody likes

•however

•Alex and John are best friends

•since they were five

•timeskip

•and they're in fifth grade

•so 10-11

•John is class president already

•but their class is having another election

•John brings in cookies for the whole class

•so he thinks he's gonna win that way

•however fucking Thomas Jefferson

•throws a party for the class

•and all the kids start talking about how they're gonna vote for Thomas

•John is in a bad mood the rest of the day

•and Alex obviously notices

•so when he gets home he goes straight to John's house

•His mother opens the door and answers

•"Oh thank god, John is upstairs, he won't talk to me or anybody else."

•Alex jumps up the stairs into John's bedroom

•and John is hiding under the blankets on his bed while his sister tries getting him out

•Alex makes John's sister leave

•and Alex crawls under the blankets with him

•they start talking

•and John is on the verge of tears

•he whispers

•"I don't want to lose."

•and Alex hates how sad John is and how broken his voice sounds

•he wants nothing more than for John to be happy again

•so Alex leans forewords and kisses John

•John almost pulls away but then stops

•and then Alex pulls away and smiles

•"I'll see you at school tomorrow."

•John comes out later that night smiling

•and the next day at school John runs to Alex grinning

•three days later and John is still grinning as he wins his class election
