•Alex runs away from home

•and meets John

•who's "seventeen"

•Alex finds him drinking from a spring

•so Alex goes to drink as well

•but John drags him back

•"No!"

•"What?"

•"Don't drink from the water! Whatever you do, do not drink."

•Alex is confused

•so he keeps pressing as to why

•and finally John admits

•"The water makes people immortal. I was seventeen when I first drank it. Now i'm one hundred and two, and no difference."

•Alex is scared

•and doesn't believe it at first

•and it isn't until John pulls out a knife and drags it across his arm, no blood drawn, that Alex believes him

•and Alex is terrified

•a few moments of silence pass

•and John finally goes

•"C'mon, let me show you something"

•Alex is hesitant

•but says okay

•John takes Alex back to his cabin he used to live in with his parents

•Alex and John get to know each other

•and, like true teenagers, fall in love

•John invites Alex to the fair

•and they have an amazing time

•*cue the Partner in Crime dance*

•afterwards

•John takes Alex to this old silo

•"The best view in Treegap."

•the two sit in comfortable silent for a while

•until John speaks up

•"Alex?"

•"Yes?"

•"Two years from now, you will turn seventeen, the same age as me. Two years from now, go to the spring, and drink."

•Alex looks up in shock

•"Alex, wait with me, and we could be married. Alex, wait with me, and we'll share the world. Alex, you can stop time, and live like this forever."

•Alex's head is racing so much

•and he can barely hear John asking

•"So, what do you say, Alex? Do you wanna live forever?"

•Alex goes home the next day

•and two years later

•and when he turns seventeen

•he doesn't go back

•years later John shows up at Alex's grave

•"Alex, I'll always love
you, and miss you more than anyone."
