•Alex is A

•and he's mute by choice

•because when he was in Nevis he used to talk all the time

•but the last year of his life there was pure torture

•mentally, verbally, and physically

•so when Alex escaped to New York he didn't want to talk to anyone because he didn't trust anyone

•eventually he learned English by listening to people

•and he would write all the time

•that's actually how Alex and John meet

•because Alex just couldn't help but get into an online argument with John when their class had an online debate

•John goes up to Alex at the end of class

•and tries starting up a conversation

•Alex just smiled sadly and signs that he's mute

•he thinks John doesn't understand

•but John just perks up

•"Oh, okay! So, can we still talk?"

•Alex takes a moment to regain himself after his shock but quickly nods

•they go grab lunch together

•and turns out John is training to become a child therapist so that's why he knows sign language

•they also find out that they make a great pair

•so they become great friends

•and after three years John sits Alex down and says

•"I really, really like you. And I was wondering, would you like to be my boyfriend?"

•Alex shows no emotion for a few moments

•and John panicked because their friendship is ruined

•but then Alex pulls John close and hugs him tightly

•and John can feel Alex nodding his head

•so they become boyfriends

•two years later

•one day

•the two are laying in bed

•Alex is resting on John's chest

•and John is aimlessly playing with Alex's hair

•when all of the sudden

•a strained voice says

•"I love you."

•John sits up quickly

•"W-what?"

•Alex looks up at John and smiles

•and he says again

•"I love you."

•John feels tears spring to his eyes

•and he pulls Alex close

•and kisses him senseless

•when they pull away John whispers to Alex

•"Alex, I love you so much. So. Goddamn. Much."

•and from there on out Alex slowly begins to speak more and more
