Winter Chills

Pulling my hands he tried to lift me out of my haven. The warm sheets I had immersed myself in over night was like sleeping on a cloud, a cloud with heating. "No Luke, I refuse. It's too cold out." Shaking my head I buried myself back into the sheets, a loud sigh sounded as I refused to budge.

"Come on, it doesn't snow often! We could have fun." He whined as I remained hidden, he became weirdly silent which only alarmed me more of what he might do.

Suddenly all the warmth had been rid of my body, I was left exposed as goose bumps attacked my skin. Shrieking loudly I jumped out of bed and ran after Luke who continued to laugh loudly around the house. "Hemmings I will kill you for that!" Running at full speed down the stairs I whipped my head either side to see if he was hiding or not. "Luke?" It was still quiet, that was until a laugh broke out in the kitchen and there he was, all wrapped up.

"Go get dressed, ten minutes in the snow?" He poured and held me in his arms, unable to resist his charm and whines I nodded and headed back up the stairs.

Pulling on the warmest things I could find I glanced back at my bed, hearing it call for me to just climb back in. I was tempted to forget about Luke's urge and desire to be a kid for a little bit but as always guilt got the better of me.

As I trudged down the stairs I could feel a breeze making me shiver. Walking through to the back garden there Luke stood with a huge grin on his face as his feet were firmly planted in snow. Hesitant, I just looked down at the perfect layer of fresh snow, then to Luke's heavy foot prints ruining the icy finish.

Ten minutes." He laughed light heartedly and I just shrugged my shoulders, it's only a bit of snow- what's the worst that could happen.

As I stepped out into the garden I felt the snow crunch beneath my feet making me giggle. I remained light on my feet as I jumped over towards Luke, accidentally tripping and falling straight into him. He fell to the ground with a light thud as I rested on top of him. "Well, at least you had a softer landing." I joked as he remained slightly unimpressed.

He lifted his head up and he kissed me lightly before pushing me off and began to make a snow angel. Sighing I joined in, then as we both stood up I stared at mine. Unsure how that was meant to be a snow angel I do not know, but Luke's looked worse than mine. Whilst he remained distracted mumbling about his failed snow angel I created a mound of snow and crept up- as best as I could behind him.

"I just wanted to make a snow angAh!" He yelled as I dumped the massive pile over the top of his head. It cascaded across his face and down his back making him jump into the air. "You, oh." His irritated expression became mischievous as he kicked snow together with his feet, forming a snow ball the size of me.

I began to back away but had little room to move before being trapped. He stalked towards me, struggling to carry the pile of snow. "Any last words?" He smirked as I pondered.

"5sos is shit." I yelled as he threw it over me. The icy coldness made my skin burn, it began to bite at my face and trail down my back causing me to shiver and go into a state of paralysis. "Yep." I exhaled, shaking my head. "I'm done."

Stepping back inside my already runny nose began to drip. I went into the bathroom unaware of the trail of water I was leaving behind. As I stood in front of the mirror I felt a lump form in my throat, tapping my chest I released a loud scratchy bark from my chest and exasperated. "Oh no." I mumbled through my hoarse voice as the coughing continued.

Shivering I came out and saw Luke looking at me with slight concern. He wrapped his arms tightly around me, still in all of his sufficient layers unlike me who should've known better. "Come on." We walked up the stairs as I sniffed, unable to stop as I used my sleeve as a temporary tissue.

I sat down on our bed as he helped me get out of the wet layers, he started to run me a hot bath whilst I sat there. Steam began to rise and I felt my heart warm at the sight. Wrapping my fuzzy dressing gown I got into my bath, sighing in contentment at the pleasure and peace it provided.

After my bath my throat eased but I remained sniffly. Heading downstairs in multiple blankets I joined Luke on the sofa who was sat with his guitar writing down some notes. Once he saw me he placed his guitar to one side and opened his arms, allowing me to rest on his chest and share the blankets.

He lightly kissed my head and mumbled some new lyrics he had been working on, different to the ones he'd been repeating or testing for the past week. Lifting my head up I nodded, "I like that. The whole let the good times roll. As if we always have to carry on even if it's tough."

As I finished his eyes lit up, something struck in him as he wrote down a few words. Placing his pen down he held my face in his hands and passionately kissed me. Pulling away he simply smiled brightly. "You're a genius."

"And you're going to get ill." I moaned causing him to laugh lightly, unable to wipe the smile from his face.

"I think I've just got the last song for the album."
