As I opened the door I heard footsteps approach me, I closed the door and kept my shoulders low to give Gary the impression of how much I didn't want to go tonight. "You realise this is a waste of good makeup right?" He didn't respond, instead grabbed a hold of his phone and dialled someone.
"By the way," He spoke up as I adjusted my blue dress "Michael doesn't know, it's a surprise for him and all." My mouth fell open and before I had the chance to argue he continued his conversation on the phone, leaving my anger to boil away.
We rode in silence, I was still bubbling away with anger but Gary refused to acknowledge it. Just before we arrived around the back of the venue he turned to me and sent me a small smile, almost one of sincerity. "Guess we should get this over with." I mumbled as I undid my seatbelt and climbed out, waiting for Gary to direct me to the backdoor.
Various corridors began to blur together, guards remained around us like we were royalty. Eventually we got to the side wing, the sound check was happening and I just wanted some time alone before being out there, hoping this went to plan as all I could picture was Michael's face dropping at the sight of me close to the stage. Before I knew it I found myself curled up by a cold brick wall, I buried my head into my lap and let out a few tears whilst I had the chance to before refreshing myself and heard footsteps coming. I quickly wiped my eyes before going to stand up and discreetly walk away but I didn't get so lucky.
All I saw was a pair of dark Doc Martens and as I looked up a some girl with cute pink hair was looking at me with a concerned look. "Are you okay?" She seemed hesitant but knelt down in front of me, placing her hand on my knee.
A small laugh escaped me as I wiped my eyes, nodding repeatedly. "Boyfriend trouble." I joked and all she did was nod.
"Well screw him if he's a dick to you." She laughed and I nodded, wishing it was that easy, like I can explain to a stranger the truth. I'm in a contract, one I can't get out of that easily.
"Thanks, Y/n." I introduced myself and I saw her eyes go wide but quickly shook it off before clearing her throat and helping me up.
"Rena, I hope things work out for you Y/n." She gave me a small hug before heading off in the opposite direction.
Letting out a shaky breath I brushed off any dust before adjusting the laces on my converse before going to find Gary. Once I found him the redness around my face was gone, my tears had dried up and I looked as ready as ever, well ready enough to fool Gary.
We started walking again with the bodyguards and towards the stage, once we got there the plan was to be in a closed off area with a few others but I obliged. "I want to be with the fans, get to have a real experience with them." I stated but everyone shook their heads.
"Y/n you know that's not safe, some fans could be against your relationship." I shrugged my shoulders at Gary, not giving up without a fight.
"I don't care, I want to be with them and enjoy this, rather than look bored on my own with my manager." I laughed, "No offence."
Gary turned away and discussed with a few people whilst I crossed my arms, looking around at how big the arena was. How soon it will be filled with life then in a matter of hours resort back to this empty state, with people's hearts left behind with the band.
"Fine." A smile appeared on my face as Gary agreed. "But," He interrupted my moment causing me to sigh. "you have to stay near us, otherwise Michael won't see you." I nodded before we heard a bunch of screams echoed and the arena began to flood with fans. "Good luck." He stated as I walked away from him and stood quietly by an area to the left of the stage.
