That Band

Walking along in a hurry through the crowds of vibrancy and the sun shining in my eyes I can hear them calling for me to hurry up. Stumbling, I try to glance up past everyone as I push against the current of people. With little luck I focus back on the ground- or to be more precise, the once green grass now trampled on into a mixture of mud and foot prints.

Adjusting my glasses on my face I wish I had considered my contacts, but knowing me I'd lose one and end up clutching my face flailing around for most of the day. I continue to mutter apologies as I barge past people of all kinds in all sorts of peculiar attire, some wear luminous ponchos whilst some try the flower crown and glitter combo; one I try to replicate.

"Guys? Guys I'm coming!" Reaching my arm up in the air I hold it as I wave to my group who I can see ahead as the pathway becomes clearer now that I've made it through the rocky waters and am close to shore.

Smiling brightly they all wear similar expressions along with slight relief, they signal to where we are heading and I nod. "Wait look out." Within an earshot I heard an unfamiliar voice shout, turning my head it all blurred together as a force came my way, knocking me down with a thud.

Opening my eyes I moaned as I sat up right, my shorts probably coated in grass stains. I blinked a few times but everything remained blurry, feeling my face I began to feel the ground surrounding me. "Oh no no no. Not my glasses." Mumbling under my breath I felt like Velma and how she always lost her glasses at the most inconvenient time just as the monster was coming.

"Er Miss?" Glancing up all I could see was a blurred figure that stood to the side of the sun rays, causing me to squint even more. "I think these might be yours." They placed something in my hands and I let out a sigh of relief as I slipped my glasses back on.

"Oh you have no idea how thankful I am-" Pausing as I glanced up the figure was far from a monster in Scooby Doo, in fact he was more handsome than Fred ever was to any child. He adjusted his feeting and blocked the sunlight from my eyes, causing him to have an angelic glow from behind him that made my insides melt. "I er," My ability to speak had been lost as I took in his features, not even noticing the smudge of mud across my left lens.

His hand was in front of me and quickly I accepted it. Standing within a close proximity to him I brush the loose bits of grass that cling to my skin and take my glasses off and wipe away the smudge, causing him to laugh lightly. Placing my now clean glasses back on my face I smile back to him, unable to tear my eyes away from those enticing hazel eyes and dimpled smile.

Messing with his already unstyled golden brown curls that he held back with a bandana he began to speak up, moving us away from the frequent crowds and treacherous waters. "Sorry about that, me and some guys were just caught in the crowd, busy right?" He joked and I nodded in response, unable to get over how his accent differed from my own and that dimpled smile he wore when he spoke, focusing on me and only me.

Running my fingers through my hair I push it out of my face, but some managed to get caught in my mouth in a less than flattering fashion. Trying to discreetly move hair from my mouth wasn't going as well as I'd hoped as he wore a mischievous smile casing my cheeks to heat up. "It's no problem really, it's crazy here. Where you headed?" Mentally I high fived myself for getting a sentence out fluently, with complete ease rather than stuttering.

"Oh we're headed to the Sapphire. What about you?" He pulled out his phone and glanced at it, before slipping it back into his pocket and silently waited for a response.

Pulling out my phone I opened the notes that May wrote down for me incase I forgot or got lost- which has proved to be the case multiple times in the three days we've been here. Inside I began to warm up as I saw where we were heading, "Looks like I'm going to the same place," I laughed lightly and he rocked back and forth on his heels, a smile still plastered across his face.

He opened his mouth but the crowd around us began to yell, multiple voices shouting chants for the next band or singing songs  in preparation for their favourite performers. I shrugged my shoulders and this time he spoke louder, almost shouting over them as we were forced to move closer, the tips of our shoes now touching.

"I'm Ashton." He lowered his head, smiling at me. Up close and with my glasses firmly on my face I could pick up the colours in his eyes, the rim of green enclosing the variety of light browns. So unknown, yet unique.

The shouts continued and I knew it was pointless yelling and wasting my scream power, considering it was only 3pm and I'm sure we'll still be singing until at least 2am. Placing my hands on his shoulders I rose onto my tiptoes and whispered my name into his ear.

As I stood back down I swear I could see a pink hue cross his cheeks as a slightly shy smile crossed his face. "Ashton, dude come on!" Someone from behind him yelled and I could see the expression on his face change, he glanced back waving at a group of guys who awkwardly hung around a few meters away.

Turning back to face me he sighed, "My friends." He scoffed lightly trying to brush off their calls. Looking past him I could see they were watching us, glancing back to him I winked his way before waving to his friends whom froze before exchanging glances with one another. After this they proceeded to just blatantly do a 180 turn leaving me with their backs to admire instead.

Satisfied I could see Ashtons shoulders rising and falling slightly, a giggle escaping his lips making me light up. "I really should go though, but I'll see you around." I said but as soon as I realised where we were I felt disheartened, we were at a festival with thousands in each crowd at each stage.

I quickly scribbled my number down on a gum wrapper in my back pocket with a felt eyeliner before handing it to him, a grin bright on his face. "Give me a call when you're in the Sapphire, I'll find you." Feeling pleased I began to walk away towards my friends who were all looking at me with astonishment, maybe I could make light of a bad situation after all.

A hand connected to my arm and turning I was relieved to see it was only Ashton, my heart rate remained at a steady pace thankfully. "Meet me at the front row, okay?" Raising an eyebrow to him I was suspicious.

"The front barrier, as in one of the most difficult spots to get to?" Genuinely surprised by his question he just nodded in response.

His hands were on my shoulders and his face was now close to mine, "Just go with it okay? Front barrier, I'll be there. 5pm? Oh," He removed the bandana from his forehead causing those curls to fall in his forehead making me giggle as they moved freely. "how about we swap?" Motioning to my flower crown as he held his bandana out I struggled to believe how absurd this all was.

"Why not." I said as I removed my flower crown and placed it on his head, pulling a face he readjusted it. He looked adorable as he laughed and instructed me to turn around, taking the bandana from my hands he secured it around my hair but as I felt it I shook my head. His fingers moved away from my head as I took the bandana and twisted it around, allowing the small knot to show on the top of my head, making it stand up. "Perfect." I joked as I couldn't take him seriously with a flower crown on. "All you need is glitter."

"I think I'll pass on that one, but at least I'll find you." I posed with and did a little walk within the small space we had accumulated. "So, 5pm, Sapphire stage, front row?" He nodded as I went through the details.

"Can't wait." Winking to me he wore that dimpled smile I found myself falling for. He walked off back to his friends who I could hear making comments on how pretty he looked rocking the flower crown.

Chuckling to myself I wandered back to my friends and before they began to ask questions I got straight to the point, "Get me to the front barrier, I've got a flower crown to get back."
