"You're going to the concert?" There was too much surprise in her tone for my liking, her mouth remained parted to say more but I stepped in before she threw another curveball my way.

Fiddling with my fingers I avoided eye contact, "Yeah," I replied with some apprehension. "why would I not?" Lifting my head now I looked at the two of them, one eyebrow raised and my face straight.

The two of them exchanged a look before glancing back my way, neither wanted to speak up first but Lila nudged Clara forcefully. Clara let out a small sigh as she lowered her head before flipping her hair out of her face, she took a step forward and took my hand in hers, something she always did as the bearer of bad news. "You are just kind of, well," She glances over to Lila who just focuses on her feet instead of me. "shy. And that concert, well it's intense."

I shrugged my shoulders, "And your point is?" Keeping calm I just sighed as my phone began to ring. "It's my brother, I'll see you guys tomorrow." Saying a brief goodbye we all departed as I headed for the car park.

Once I found my brother I got in and huffed loudly, "You okay kid?"

Turning to face him I just raised an eyebrow, "Am I like really shy?" He gripped onto the steering wheel and turned the engine on, the same response that my friends had. "So I am, aren't I?" Slumping back into the seat I hold my folders in my grip on my lap, unsure what else to do as I watch the school passing by.

"You've just got to get out of your shell more," He spoke up breaking the peaceful silence as I focused on the leaves that fell from the trees, each shade of Autumn that was represented now fallen on the ground, piling up.  "and hey," A light elbow nudged my upper arm and a light chuckle followed. "this concert is the perfect start." We kept the conversation limited for a while until we got home, once there I went to get ready knowing I had a couple of hours before I'd have to set off and meet Elise there.

Just as I finished getting ready and headed downstairs I yelled goodbye before walking out of the door quietly closing it as I got into the car and drove off, telling myself this would be a good thing. Repeating the same words I had always been told from my Dad I muttered them as I neared the venue, you've just got to speak up, you've just got smile and lift your head, you've got this.

The buzz and excitement that flows through everyone in the crowd builds up as we wait for the band to come on yet as I look around I can't see Elise anywhere. Reaching into my pocket I pull out my phone but as I do for the fifth time the guy just to my left turns to glance at me. Once I've sent the message asking her whereabouts before pushing my hair out of my face and patiently waiting.

Unaware of the guy looking my way I glance his way, he is now more so turned to face me and I awkwardly smile. "Can, can I help you?" He chuckled lightly in response whilst I remained just as confused.

"You erm, you keep touching my ass." I could feel my cheeks burning up but remained thankful for the now dimmed lighting. In the flashes of phone lights I could see him partially, big brown eyes and styled hair matching, plus a slight smile hidden in the suppressed laugh at the lack of words from me.

"Oh, oh my god I am so sorry, it's just my friend isn't answering and I just-" He held my arms as I stopped rambling my words, unsure of what to do next I just took a deep breath.

"Hey, no don't worry about it." He still held my arms and it was relaxing, his gentle smile was calming and I focused on his eyes, for some reason unable to look away. "You waiting for your boyfriend?" My eyes went wide and as an immediate response I just started to laugh.

Unable to control my laughter his hold on my arms loosened and he just sort of seemed concerned. "Sorry," Wiping my eyes I exhaled loudly whilst I blocked out the rest of the conversations around us. "obviously you don't know me but yeah boyfriend isn't currently on the cards for me." There was a glint in his eyes as I finished and he kept quiet.

"You're just," He looked away as everyone began to cheer, "I'll talk to you after okay!" He yelled over the cheers which I barely heard. He said something inaudible and I raised my eyebrows, unsure on what it was he clearly said it drifted away in my mind as the band began to play.

Soon I found myself melting into the music, unaware of my surroundings as I focused on the lyrics, all their meanings, the bass that played, the harmonies just all of it. I felt a pair of hands touch my shoulders and as I turned I couldn't have been more relieved. I tried to speak up but it was no use, Elise just pointed to her watch and motioned to a car and all I did was nod, not wanting to miss anything of this night.

Everyone began to file out and I could not wipe the smile from my face as me and Elise could not contain our excitement and the adrenaline rush that did not pass. "Wait so what did you do before I got here?" She nudged me and I let out a laugh, no longer feeling tense or worried like I was prior to this.

"Well I got here and I was in the crowd and I got talking to this guy and-" I froze on the spot and gripped onto her arm. "Oh my god." I muttered as I looked around the crowd, I could now see the floor around us and him nowhere in sight. "That, that guy," She looked blankly at me whilst I rambled and held my head in my hands. "he was right next to me and now." Part of me felt like screaming whilst the other half just said how irrational it all was.

"There will be others like him, don't worry." She tried to comfort me but I just shrugged it off before heading out of the venue, following all the other crowds and groups whom of which share that same level of post concert euphoria.

Shaking my head I just walked on, unsure what else to say. Elise continued to talk about the band and how good the members looked to which I nodded in response whilst his eyes remained on my mind more than the concert.

As we got outside and the cool Autumn air flew through my hair I shivered, unaware of how cold it would actually be in the late evening. I wrapped my arms around myself as I pulled out my phone, texting my parents letting them know how long I'd be.

A gentle tap on my shoulder caused me to turn and as I did I felt a flurry of warmth spread through me. His now visible face and wide smile made me feel a little bit safer, a little bit more at ease. "At least you didn't hit any other guys in the ass." He joked and Elise stepped in, completely confused. "Calum." It fitted, as weird as that seemed the light in his dark eyes shone brighter now he had a name.

We began to talk more and the awkwardness soon faded, it came easily and the shyness that loomed over me had disappeared. I heard Elise calling my name and I then turned around to see her pointing to her watch yet again, sighing in response I faced Calum again, sad to see him go.

"Sorry Calum, I've, I've got to go." I could see the look in his eyes falter and I just stood still, unsure what else to do.

He took a step closer to me and lowered his head towards mine, unsure what to expect he moved his head over to my ear and I could hear his breath. "You'll see me again, I'll make sure of it." He moved away and winked before walking off and I stood there waiting until he was out of sight before heading back home.

Sitting in the car I reached my hand into my pocket to grab my phone and as I grabbed onto it I saw something fall by my feet and as I picked it up I couldn't help but laugh. "Oh Calum." I just shook my head and couldn't wipe the smile from my face at the sight of a scribbled down number before i tucked it back into my pocket and drove off back home.
