"So I'm joined today by 5 Seconds of Summer. Really glad to have you guys on with us during your tight schedule." The interviewer went on the same as all the others had done today, how they managed to maintain the smiles and answers to every question ask still beats me. "Now there's something I've always been interested to ask and that's about your first gigs, what were they like?"
They all glance at each other and I mentally groan as I sit watching behind the screen, out of sight- meaning I wouldn't be a distraction or a nuisance to the crew. I sat there thinking up various answers, wishing that telepathy was real as they sure could use it. Luke was the first to pipe up and I eased a bit in the oversized chair I was left in. "Well our first few gigs weren't such a success," He joked and the others seemed to delve into the topic with ease, less uncoordinated.
"Yeah I remember this one gig where it was fairly packed, I think we went somewhere completely different with the thanks to Ashton as our driver." Michael motioned to Ashton who raised his hand and took a small bow whilst remaining seated. The interviewer laughed flirtatiously and I can tell you this, if I had a shot every time an interviewer flirted in any form with these guys I'd black out and hope to forget every incidence.
Calum began to giggle out of the blue and Michael glanced his way, nodding to him. All four of them wore smiles on their faces at some form of inside joke everyone was oblivious to knowing or understanding yet I couldn't help but sink into this chair, fearful of what one of them will say. "We were performing and it was busy, like we said and there were these group of girls, our age I think." One year younger, I thought to myself as I wanted to curl up in a ball and hope this seat would willingly swallow me whole.
"All of these girls were enjoying themselves, pretty close to the front with smiles on their faces except for one." Calum spoke through giggles as he struggled to control himself, despite how many times we've relived this story.
Ashton glanced to the camera, directly looking at me for a split second before focusing back into the interview. "You little shits." I mumbled as others were in the room I was in, unaware of who I actually was besides someone in the 'crew.'
Scratching the back of his neck Ashton continued with the story, "There was one girl who hated it." He mocked the facial expression, a face like thunder, literally. "She stood there clearly wanting to be elsewhere as her friends nudged her and tried to ease her into it but she was not having it."
"Well if you must know for the twelfth time I had no sleep, I was broke and starving. Course I didn't want to dance." Crossing my arms I ignored the glances from others in the room, only focusing on the screens and how my cheeks began to heat up from embarrassment tied in with rage.
"She eventually glanced up away from the floor where she first noticed our one and only Michael." Luke squished Michael's shoulders and tried to hug him, ultimately failing on the small sofa. "It was love at first sight." Dramatically Luke continued as Michael remained fairly quiet, not pitching in even though it's a personal favourite of his to tell everyone.
"And then she was smiling, getting into our music. By this point we'd all noticed the change in her attitude and began to pay more attention to her actions, Michael more than any of us.
Smirking to himself I rolled my eyes as he glanced to the camera with a devious look. Sighing to myself I knew what was coming, every single time they delay it for the sake of their own amusement.
"Anyhow a while later, we're almost done with our set and Michael who can't take his eyes off of her-" Calum's part in the story fell short as he was interrupted.
"Not in a creepy way, just saying." Michael interjected making me chuckle to myself.
"Right..." A brief silence followed making the interviewer laugh to herself, a bit too enthusiastically. "Next thing we know is that this girl is giving us a roller coaster of emotions as she collapses straight to the ground." Ashton imitates a plane crash and an explosion, before raising an eyebrow to the camera, meaning me.
"Wait so she just fainted?" The interviewer exclaimed as they all nodded with large grins on their faces.
"Best moment was when Michael jumped over the stage and barrier to carry her out back, to make sure she was alright whilst we tried to amuse the crowd." Luke laughed awkwardly as he briefly reminisced on that moment, they always say how their jokes went down as well as a led balloon.
Michael shuffled on the spot and the others glanced his way, waiting for his knight in shining armour moment to be heard. "Being the Prince Charming I am I stayed with her whilst the medical team checked her out, blamed it on being dehydrated." He tutted. "Then I stayed with her and unaware of who I actually was we bonded, she met the other guys and we had a good laugh."
Smiling to myself I remember that as if it were yesterday, how worried they seemed initially about me until we just started laughing about all sorts. Michael offered to walk me back to my car and slipped me his number. Sometimes I'm thankful for the fact that I didn't eat enough, maybe this would never have happened and I'd be just another fan watching this once it comes out online.
"So who was this girl after all?" Clearly caught up in the story the interviewer sat on the edge of her seat whilst they all looked at each other with cautious eyes.
"My clumsy, now very much hydrated girlfriend. Y/n." Waving like an idiot to the camera I couldn't help but laugh in response.
"Oh Michael, you never cease to amaze me."
