Concert?

"You're kidding?" I scoffed and lent back into my chair, feeling a mixture of impressed and upset.

Y/f/n shook her head as the class continued their own conversations. "I got the text earlier," She rubbed her head and brushed her hair back in frustration. "how are we supposed to get there now? It's about a two hour drive and she was our only option."

Y/f/n had a cousin who was willing and able to drive us to a concert tonight that we had always wanted to go to since we were about 14, and now it seems like we can't go. I shrugged my shoulders and collapsed into my folders in disappointment. For the rest of the lesson I remained fairly quiet and un-talkative, even as I left to go to my next class.

Various ideas played in my mind as I spoke to different people I knew or researched options to get there or texted distant family for a short notice long drive, my outcome was not a success. As I walked towards the main building where my year group was based I kept my head low, not wanting to talk to my friends who knew the concert was tonight merely because it was the only thing I would talk about for the past month leading up to tonight.

Before I had the chance to dump my stuff and sit quietly y/f/n came running towards me with a completely different attitude to the one I was radiating. "Guess what?" She beamed and I let out a long painful sigh whilst she struggled to remain still on the spot.

"What?" I tried to seem cheerful for her but my attitude got the better of me as she stopped bouncing and stood still, grabbing onto my shoulders and looking me dead in the eyes.

"We," She motioned to the two of us and my eyes went wide, I gave her the look for her to keep on going and mainly get to the point she was lengthening. "are going to the concert tonight." A smile emerged onto her face as I remained optimistic whether she was having a psychotic break and wanted to mess with my heart strings some more.

"You're messing with me?" I asked with a lack of emotion, just wanting her to get to the point on whether this was true, why get my hopes up then be disappointed all over again?

She frantically shook her head and it began to sink in, we were going to see the concert as planned. We both started to squeal like little kids and jump up and down, a few people turned to look at us but I didn't care for them, I was feeling content. Half way through the happiness overload I stopped abruptly, curious about a few things. "Wait," Y/f/n stopped jumping and had a concerned expression that often made appearances of late when I questioned something. "How're we even getting there?" I asked and she smiled brightly.

"That's the best part." She beamed, "See him over there?" She pointed at a small room where some of the guys go to do some work or be away from all of the noise in the main area, I nodded to her and then two of them walked out she started to hit my arm repeatedly. "That one there!" She whispered to me excitedly, he looked familiar but I couldn't think from where.

"Who's he exactly?" Part of me felt embarrassed that I didn't know the guy who managed to save me from eternal misery and would be in a car with him too. I could see out of the corner of my eye her usual eye roll of annoyance, the one that also translated to 'seriously Y/n?'

He stood on the other side of the room by the large orange sofas where people were led across each other on their phones and he stood a fair distance away whilst his friend spoke to the group. I couldn't make out his face but I liked his hair, it was a faded blue that seemed to be left wild, unstyled. I could see him fiddling with the sleeves on his jacket and shuffling his weight from one foot to the other trying to go back to where he once was.

I felt someone rest their head on my shoulder, "So." Y/f/n chuckled, "Looks like you've found Michael." Shrugging my shoulder she removed her head and I turned away, not wanting to be caught staring. "He's in our graphics class, he heard us, well saw you moaning about it and offered since he was going." She explained as I sat down next to her on the green armchair. I glanced back to this Michael to see his friend joining him and them both walking back, but as I observed their movements his head turned in our direction, not making exact eye contact but a glimpse was caught of his emerald eyes.
