Present Day

(Dayu's POV)

My parents looked off.

We were eating dinner; and usually, they would be chattering around the table. We would be chattering together.

We; the Feng loved to do our meeting or update on our everyday activities over dinner. It's tradition.

So why are my parents this quiet tonight?

It's like they're carrying a meeting alright but with their eyes and only with each other. They're leaving me out.

Chen is also feeling the oddness. He also knew how my family behaved over dinner. We weren't nowhere near this civilized.

"Okay..spill it out." I put down my spoon, and I stopped pretending to eat.

"Where are my real parents and what have you done with them?" I looked at Ma and Baba, hands folded in front of my chest.

My parents looked at me simultaneously and laughed; a nervous laugh.

"What do you mean, Dayu ah..?" Ma's smile was too wide.

"Come..come...eat..." Baba was also behaving strange. Usually he'd have a lot to say to me.

"What's going on exactly? " I asked, because I'm really worried. Are my parents having some kinds of troubles? Troubles that they didn't want me to know?

"Dayu ah.." Ma sighed then she looked at Baba before she continued, "it's nothing. We're just..surprised that you're here after two years...do you know that we hadn't eaten dinner together for two years?"

I immediately felt guilty. My mother was right. I hadn't been home in two years. Maybe my parents had changed their dinner habits in those two years. Though I doubt it, but I still felt guilty.

I bit my lip, "I'm sorry Ma..Baba.." I had thought so many times to come home in those two years.

But whenever I thought of home, I'd become scared. That I'd remember things I didn't want to remember.
