When Two Worlds Collide

Present Day

(Chen's POV)

When Dayu called me to follow him, I immediately did. And as I walked past the two guys, obviously vying for the attention of the same man, I looked at them sharply.

I almost cursed when I met the three of them on Dayu's family home's footsteps.

Actually, I did curse when I saw Qing. I hadn't met Qing in person for two years. I only saw him on the TV and whenever I did, I'd turn the TV off or just stood up and leave. I hated him for two years.

I never thought that I'd see him in front of Dayu's house. So, imagine my surprise when the guys told me that it was Dayu's mother who had called them; including Qing, to come.

So, I walked in, determined to stand up for Dayu. I knew Dayu's mother adored Qing, but the man had hurt her own son, so doing this is just a bit too much. Someone has got to be on Dayu's side.

I knew that it's going to be hard for Dayu. I knew that he still reacted strongly to Qing. And that, he's still hurt over what happened two years ago between them.

I also knew that inside were Dayu's Wick Chapter 3 cast members. And among them, is the person Dayu had told me about.

I watched the live coverage of Dayu's film premier yesterday, and I saw everything that had happened.

I saw how Qing tried to get close to Dayu, using the crowd of chanting fans to his advantage. And I also saw that there's this one very good looking man who rarely left Dayu's side.

I knew then that he's the one. The friend whom Dayu said he felt very comfortable with. The friend whom Dayu said, is nothing but a friend. The friend whom Dayu said is as straight as a ruler.

And as I had expected, he's not looking at Dayu as a friend. I know for sure, from experience. I know, because I had seen it happened before.

I was Qing's and Dayu's room mates for two years. I saw first hand how Qing, being a man in love with Dayu behaved around Dayu.

And that's how Dayu's 'friend' was behaving around Dayu. That 'friend', Pietro Boselli.

Dayu's mother greeted us at the front door, and I stared in shock as I saw her giving Qing a hug before leading us all to their backyard.

And there was Dayu, with his cast members. Having a barbeque, and they looked very happy.

Seeing Dayu with his Hollywood friends was a bit overwhelming, because he looked like my friend but he also looked like someone else.

Dayu belongs to two worlds now. He's not only exclusive to us. He has another life other than the life he had with us. I admit that it hurt a little. But I'm proud that he made it. He made it despite what he had gone through.

When Dayu turned to look at us, his gaze, of course settled on Qing the longest.

And even from this far, I could see and I could sense; how affected Dayu was by Qing. My heart felt for him.

Two years away and Dayu still couldn't forget Qing or his betrayal.

And then Dayu looked at his mother, realising the situation at hand. Dayu's  mother then walked over to her son, and they exchanged some hushed words before Dayu's mother walked into the house and Dayu called out for us to come and meet his cast members.

It was a collision of two worlds. It was intimidating at first; knowing that Dayu's new friends are famous established Hollywood stars, but as soon as we greeted each other and began talking, I was shocked to find out just how down to earth they all were.

They didn't have even a little of the 'star' syndrome, and were behaving just like us; normal people. It was amazing. No wonder, Dayu grew so close to them.

From the corner of my eyes though, I saw Pietro walking towards Dayu, and automatically I looked at Qing. Sure enough; his hawk-like eyes followed the Italian model without blinking.

I shivered as I felt the same vibe I sensed from him, whenever someone got close to Dayu, prior to two years ago.

These two years; I saw him establishing his status as a certified superstar here in Mainland. And I thought he looked happy, he looked like he'd moved on.

Once again I guess I was wrong again. Just as I was wrong about Dayu's feelings. I was wrong about Qing's too.

He's still in love with Dayu. And I guess that made me madder.

If his feelings for Dayu is that strong why did he betray Dayu in the first place?

He brought this upon himself. I'm mad. But I can't help but feel sad, to see two of my dearest friends who had this deep feelings for each other became so entangled in this mess. It's such a pity. I'm mad. But I'm also sad.

Then I watched Dayu as he talked with Pietro. And I got what Dayu said about  the comfortable feelings he had when he's with the man.

It was because on Dayu's side. There's nothing between them but friendship. And he knew it.

I wondered though. Whether he realised the man's feelings for him. Or whether Dayu realised Qing's unchanged feelings for him.

Qing then walked over to stand in front of Dayu and more or less threw some chicken wings and sausages on the grill Dayu had prepared.

Qing, the king of jealous husbands. He's back. Maybe he hadn't even been gone anywhere. Just waiting for Dayu to come back.

I don't doubt it all.

So what would Dayu do about this? How would he react.

At first Dayu acted strong and indifferent. But after ten minutes, the two men from Dayu's two different worlds were still engaged in a silent duel with their eyes; and Dayu was caught in the middle.

And at last, he couldn't take it anymore. And he escaped into the house; calling me to follow him.

I looked at Wang Yu gege and Cai Zhao and caught them looking away obviously they're well aware of what's happening too.

Dayu's worlds had just collided and I don't know how this will end. But I'm about to find out.

Because I knew, Dayu's about to make a decision.
