Chapter 8 - The Request

Am I hearing it right? Gising na ba ako or this just a dream? Bakit nandito si Jan sa harapan ko? Ma'am Chloe announced that he is my new partner, my new ka loveteam.

Late reaction yung kalabog ng puso ko.

"W-what?" mahina kong tanong. Tinignan ko si Ma'am Chloe na hindi inaalis ang tingin sa akin. As if she is waiting for a reply.
I turned to Ate Pure who is all smiles sitting beside me.

"Ate, ano? Bakit may bago akong ka loveteam?"

"You heard it right Lila. I have your new contract right here. Malapit na rin naman mag expire yung last mo hindi ba? We can do it earlier." Ma'am Chloe spoke. "Sa bago mong contract, minabuti kong ibind ka ulit sa isang loveteam. You'll be paired with Jan this time for movies and seryes plus other projects." she added.

I heard them discuss something regarding the said contract pero hindi ko sila masundan kasi unang una ay gulong gulo pa ako. Hindi pa yata umeepekto sa akin ang kape ko.

"I am very glad na binigyan niyo si Lila ng ganitong opportunity Ma'am Chloe. Medyo nagugulat lang siya Ma'am. Hindi ko kasi sinabi sa kanya up until kaninang umaga. I wanted to surprise her." matamis ang ngiti ni Ate Pure kay Ma'am Chloe na panay pa rin ang ngiti sa akin.

I leaned to my chair and tried to process everything.

"So you mean. After the issue with Calvin you'll still renew my contract instead of letting me go?"

Ate Pure, Ma'am Chloe, Kuya Hero and even Jan turned their heads towards my direction.

"Why? Would you rather say goodbye to your career Lila?" Kuya Hero asked.

"N-no hindi naman po. Nagulat lang ako. I really thought..." I trailed.

"Well, so much for those thoughts Lila. We have good news here so dapat ipagdiwang na lang natin. In fact, I have many plans for the both of you. Mabuti na lamang at may nag suggest sa akin nito." Ma'am Chloe said after a while.

Jan is silent. His face doesn't give much of an expression. Napilit kaya siya to do this? Pero bakit siya pumayag? I mean, he can say no if he is against this. Not that I want him to say no. Gusto ko rin naman. Aminado akong he could help. I just didn't assume na papayag siya. He is Jan Antonio now, hindi naman niya kailangan ng loveteam.

I did not realize it pero naabutan niya akong nakatingin sa kanya. He raised both his brows and mouthed "What?" parang iritado siya.

Okay mukhang pinilit nga siya para gawin to. I can sense in his mood. He doesn't want this. I don't want this either. Ayaw ko ng mapartner sa kanya. It's been years since we tried our pair up. Malamang nakalimutan na yun ng tao.

I looked away immediately after embarrassing myself while staring at him.

"So, pinatawag ko kayo ngayon just to have a formal meeting about this plan. Yung signing of contract niyo will be done next week. Magpapa press tayo of course. I want your signing of contract to be covered by the press. Papagawan ko din ng writeups para mas umingay pa ang loveteam niyo." ani Ma'am Chloe.

Nag agree naman kameng lahat ng magsalita si Jan.

"Kailangan pa ba yun Ma'am? I mean, sure paguusapan talaga kame. She's pairing up with me after all." Jan said suddenly. There was a moment of silence.

Can you believe how arrogant this guy is? I rolled my eyes. Wala akong pakialam kung makita niya ako. Napasandal ako sa upuan and I crossed my arms and looked at him.

Ngayon nagdadalawang isip na ako kung papayag ba ako. Pero Camilla, this is a matter of living your dream and forgetting it. This is so frustrating. Saying yes to this team-up means I will need to get along with him and for now, I see that as an impossible dream.
