Chapter 44 - The Rescue

"Thanks Keira for being here ha? Namiss ko yung ganitong pag comfort mo." Camilla smiled briefly as she wiped her tears.

"Wala yun. You know I will always be here for you. Just tell me anything Camilla, anything. I'd be glad to listen." Keira said hugged Camilla from the side.

"Teka parang mainit ka. May sakit ka ba?" Keira placed her hand over Camilla's forehead.

"Wala. Baka dahil umiinom ako." Camilla said to Keira.

Nasa kusina sila ngayon at kumukuha ng panibagong bote ng wine.

Camilla took another chilled Chardonnay. She had few glasses already but it's unusual that she doesn't feel it's effect yet. Or was she used to it already?

She would, from night to night sneak a glass or two when sleep seems so hard to get. Those nights that she ends up crying herself to sleep again. It's sad but it's the only way she could get some rest.

Papalabas na sana uli sila ni Keira ng salubungin sila ni Monalisa mula sa sala.

"Camilla." tawag niya sa anak. Mukha itong balisa.

"Yes 'mmy?"

"May bisita ka." she said next.

"Sino po--" Camilla was about to ask.

"Camilla, happy birthday." a voice came fron behind her mother.

"Kuya Hero?" Camilla was left nailed in her place looking at Jan's manager. He walk towards them.

She hasn't seen him in months or longer than that if she was to ask.

Kasabay ng kanyang gulat ay ang kirot sa dibdib ng makita ito. Any person who's related to Jan can instantly shake Camilla to the core.

Probably the same reason she hadn't had the courage to face Jan's family after the incident.

News reached them that the entire family is in Mindoro now taking a needed vacation.

Nakaupo na ngayon si Hero at Camilla sa sala, magkaharap at parehas na katahimikan ang namayani. Hindi malaman kung sinong unang magsasalita.

"Umuwi muna ako sa probinsya namin pagkatapos ng libing ni Jan." Hero started the talk. "Sorry kung hindi na kita nadalaw." he apologized.

Camilla's eyes were fixed on her hands that were resting on her lap. She still can't find that courage to meet Hero in the eye. Pakiramdam ni Camilla ay hahagulgol siya.

"Okay lang po. Naintindihan ko naman na masakit din po sa inyo ang nangyari Kuya." she said in a low breaking voice.

Hero reached for her arm and held her there. It was his way to comfort her.

Hero expelled a heavy breath "Halos nakita ko kung paano nag binata at naging mama yang si Jan eh. I was with him all through out his career."

Camilla managed to look at him this time and saw how his eyes turned reddish and glistened with his own tears.

A tear silently fell from her eyes and she quickly wiped it. Hero did the same and kept of expelling heavy breaths to prevent from crying more.
