Chapter 42 - The Surprise

It was fifty minutes past twelve in the morning of September 22, 2022.

The lights inside Camilla's unit were turned off. She did not bother to open them as she went straight to her room.

Pagod na pagod si Camilla galing sa isang endorsement shoot. Na late na siya ng uwi dahil may hinanda silang surprise birthday party para sa kanya.

All she wanted was to plop onto her perfectly made bed. The cleaners must have come that morning coz her place are all neat and tidy.

She hurried to the bathroom to wash up so she could rest and sleep. Bumabagsak na ang mata niya sa antok at pagod. Hindi na nga niya napansin na hindi na tumawag uli si Jan sa kanya.

He probably fell asleep too. She's sure he is tired as she is kaya hindi na rin niya ito binalak na tawagan pa.

After twenty minutes or so, Camilla walked out of her bath. Her hair damp from the shower.

Wearing her yellow silk robes, Camilla made her way to the cabinet to grab anything comfortable to wear. She was about to pull a shirt when she started to scream in terror.

She almost had a heart attack upon seeing something...someone inside. He was hiding inside her cabinet in a sitting position.

Camilla's initial reaction was to scream and ran away from the cabinet but later on she realized who actually was it then she managed to calm down and return in front of her opened cabinet. Still terrified on what she just witnessed.

"Boo?!" Camilla huffed.

"Huh?! Ahm..." Jan was woken up by her voice. His eyes wandered around. Disorientation was obvious in his reaction.

Jan stood up from there still holding the balloons and flowers in his hands.

Camilla exhaled deeply placing her hands on each side of her hips. She was waiting for him to say something but her suppressed smile can tell she started to feel amused.

"Happy Birthday Baby?" Jan shrugged half embarrassed of his epic fail of a surprise.

"What the hell? Anong ginagawa mo diyan sa loob?" Camilla almost broke into laughter.

"I-susurprise sana kita eh kaso ang tagal mong dumating. Nakatulog na pala ako." he cracked up.

"Boo naman eh. Aatakihin ako sayo." Camilla said holding her hand against her chest. Malakas pa din ang kabog ng puso niya dahil sa gulat.

"Sorry na, ang fail ng birthday salubong ko." Jan said puckering his lips trying to look cute in which he succeeded.

Camilla's smile widened. She hurried to him for a hug.

"No, fail man ang surprise but you made my day even more special. Thank you Boo." Camilla uttered against his chest. She casts him a glance of gratefulness.

"I love you Baby." Jan closed the gap and gave Camilla a kiss on her forehead, hugging her tighter.

"I love you too Boo." she replied in an instant.

He swayed her slowly as if he was hearing music playing.

"Hayaan mo..." Jan whispered in her ear. "...next birthday mo siguraduhin kong masusurprise ka na talaga." he promised.
