Wulfenite took off his cape and summoned his staff: "since Lapis already knows how to pack a punch, I'll go easy for Peridot, you know, learning the basics. Maybe you'll learn something new too, Lapis." Lapis nodded. "Enough talking. Let's do this!" Peridot yelled. "Okay, first, we need to summon our weapons, so go ahead." Wulfenite said and he closed his eyes. The gems stood there, looking at each other. "Uh, Wulfenite, we don't have gem weapons, we control water and metal respectively." Wulfenite's eyes opened: "Oh, right. Well, ready your... element." Lapis took a giant ball of water and peridot lifted the cutting piece of metal with difficulty. "First up: know your weapon." Wulfenite slammed his staff into the ground; "If you don't know how your weapon works, or how to operate it, you don't stand a chance. Second: Cool tricks add no tactical advantage whatsoever, unless you count intimidating your target, which is a tactical advantage, but in most cases, your foe won't be intimidated. Unless your name is Wulfenite, son of the Diamonds." Wulfenite laughed while Peridot sighed and Lapis stared lovingly at Wulfenite. He continued: "Next up: know your enemy and it's powers if you can, since it will help you fight it. Third point: know your surroundings and know how to use it to your advantage. Always look around you to know where you are and how to handle the situation. Next point: don't speak during fights. No mocking, no laughing, no losing focus. Never speak like you own your enemy, because 1: if he wins, you'll be double ashamed and 2: it won't help at all, you'll just lose focus and underestimate your enemy. These are the fighting basics. Now we're going to test if y'all know how to use your weapons. I know Lapis knows, but do you, Peridot?" Peridot looked at her floating piece of metal. "It doesn't look like it'd cause damage, but that's just me underestimating it. See? I learn from my faults and adapt." Wulfenite said. Peridot sent the metal dagger flying at Wulfenite. "Now it's going to be fun." Wulfenite said. He spun his staff around and deflected the dagger. "Good first attempt, Peri." Peridot blushed. "Okay Lapis, your turn." "Get ready!" Lapis focused and summoned a water version of Wulfenite. "Oh boy. This is not going to end well." He told himself. Water Wulfenite charged at Wulfenite, who put on his cape. He smashed his fist through water Wulfenite's head, which grew back on. "Aw come on!" Wulfenite said angrily. Water Wulfenite spun his staff into Wulfenite, who deflected with his staff. It became a quick clash of staffs without an end. Lapis summoned a water hand and wanted to punch Wulfenite in the back, but he did a backflip behind it and slashed it in two. Peridot looked at Lapis and studied her technique. She grabbed her tape recorder and documented the fight. Meanwhile, water Wulfenite ran at Wulfenite, who started shooting at water Wulfenite. "There's room for only one Diamond son in this galaxy." He said as he slashed water Wulfenite in half. Then he drank all the water. "Tasty. That's one way to deal with your enemy." Peridot and Lapis looked with a disgusted look at Wulfenite. "What? Sometimes, you need to do whatever you can to stop your enemy, so if he requires you to drink him, you do." Peridot said: "I'm done training for today, but it was awesome to see you fight a water version of yourself." Wulfenite nodded and said: "I hope you learned something. Let's hit the hay." Lapis looked confused at Wulfenite: "Why should we punch hay?" "No, it's an expression, meaning to go sleep." "That's stupid." "I didn't come up with it. Steven taught it to me." Peridot yelled: "Are you coming? I want to take a nap!" Wulfenite said: "On my way!" He told Lapis: "She's just cranky she didn't put up a fight like you did. She needs more training. I'll get her to your level." Lapis blushed and kissed Wulfenite goodnight. Wulfenite flew to Peridot and lifted her into the bed, hung up his cape and laid down next to Peridot. "Good night, Peri" "Good night, Wulfenite."
