Pearl and Garnet were fighting Peridot, while the others battled with Ultranite. "Stop struggling! You can't win against all of us!" Wulfenite said. "Maybe you're right. Alright, pop quiz time, Crystal Gems! We are all familiar with the saying 'less is more'. But when does more mean less?" Ultranite asked. Everyone stood in silence. "Time's up!" Ultranite said and grabbed Wulfenite's face and smashed it into the floor. "The answer is: When you cut down the fusion." Ultranite said and she slashed into Wulfenite with her scythe. Everyone gasped as they saw Wulfenite split in half. He slowly shrunk into a tiny ball and then bursted out in a giant combination of gemstones. The gemstones flew in all directions, with only one Amethyst lying in the center. All the gemstones reformed.
"Where am I?" The Amethyst asked. She looked at her hands. "What?! What happened to me?!" The Amethyst asked herself. The Crystal Gems looked in horror. "W...Wulfenite?" Lapis asked. "What? Lapis? Is that you?" The Amethyst looked around. All kinds of gems looked directly at her. Lapis ran to the Amethyst in the middle. "Lapis? What happened?" "You got hit by Ultranite. The scythe... It reversed you back to your original state." "So those gems... are me?" The Amethyst asked. "Yes, brother. Those are the gems that unwillingly fused with you when you were dropped in that tub." Ultranite said; "Now you're back to being a regular Amethyst. Worthless and weak." The Amethyst stood upright: "If there's one thing I've learned from my time on earth, it's that Amethysts aren't weak. Especially when they have friends." The Amethyst raised her hands, and all the gems that once made up Wulfenite ran towards her. A flash emerged, blinding everyone. "What in the galaxy are you doing?!" Ultranite exclaimed in horror. Wulfenite fused back together, in a giant form of himself. "Goodness, this is more like it!" Everyone looked with open mouth as they witnessed Wulfenite's massive posture. "Well, sister, any last words?" Ultranite swallowed: "I've got no regrets. I will conquer the universe. You just sit tight." Ultranite said and she ran away. Wulfenite crouched down and grabbed Ultranite by the head with two fingers. "No no no, stay here." Wulfenite said as he took the scythe. Ultranite shot at him with her arm cannon. "Futile, sister." Wulfenite said. "Go, Wulfenite!" Steven yelled excited. All the gems cheered for him. "Let her go!" Peridot yelled. Garnet bopped Peridot on her head and made her sit down against the wall. Wulfenite picked Ultranite up and lifted her to his face. "This is what you've done, now how do I fix it!" Wulfenite asked. "...Impossible." Ultranite said and she began laughing maniacally. "Nothing's impossible. We always find a way." Wulfenite said and he closed his hand. He then opened it again and dropped the gemstone of Ultranite on the floor. Pearl ran to it, bubbled it and held on to her. "That gem is dangerous. I wonder what her backstory is..." Wulfenite said.
The Crystal Gems gathered around the gigantic Wulfenite. "So, why did you grow this big when you fused?" Amethyst asked. "It's because I'm a fusion. The first time I ever formed, I was already a fusion. That's why I wasn't a towering gem. See me as a giant brain." Wulfenite said. "I'd rather not." Amethyst said. "Metaphorically, I mean. All the gems that make up Wulfenite are like brain functions. Some gems hold memories and others hold the relationships I have. We all work in symbiosis, but we never thought this would happen. On the positive side, now I can unfuse and I'll never be alone." Wulfenite laughed. Steven looked around the giant room. "Hey, What are we going to do about Peridot?" He asked. Everyone looked at Peridot, who sat angrily against the wall: "What are you clods looking at?" "Nothing." Wulfenite said. "Well it looks like your looking at me." Peridot reacted. "Like I said, nothing." Wulfenite said smug. Peridot stood up angrily. "Hey hey, I'm kidding." Wulfenite said. "That was mean!" Steven said. "It's the best way to deal with that kind of attitude. Believe me." Wulfenite said. In the mean time, Ronaldo came to. "What happened? Is that woman still here?" He asked. Ronaldo stood up and looked Wulfenite straight in the eyes. "What is that!?" Ronaldo screamed in horror. He passed out again. "What a hero." Wulfenite said; "Anyway, we have some things to fix. First, we need to get Ronaldo back to earth. Thing is, my cape doesn't fit anymore and I'm afraid I don't fit in spaceships. I'm stuck here." "I'll bring him back to earth." Garnet said. "Steven, come with me and point me to the ship in which you came here." Steven grabbed Garnet's hand and walked with her and the passed out Ronaldo back to the ship: "See you all soon!" The gems waved the three goodbye. "Wait! Take Ultranite with you!" Pearl yelled and she threw the gemstone at Steven. "Got it!" Steven said.
"Okay, next, we need Peridot back. How will we do that?" Wulfenite asked. "I... really don't know." Lapis said. "Can't we poof her again?" Amethyst asked. "No, the rejuvenator is permanent. Poofing her won't help." "Permanent?" Pearl said surprised; "Then why do we even bother?" "Because I once brought someone back from it, but I've forgotten how I did that." Wulfenite said. "Why don't you just explain to her who she used to be, big best friend?" Spinel said as she launched herself onto Wulfenite's shoulder. "That might work... Pearl, Amethyst, Lapis, go ahead. I don't think Spinel and I are of big help here. We haven't known her that long." "Don't worry, Wulfs, we'll handle this." Amethyst said. The gems walked off and faced Peridot. "So what now, best friend?" Spinel asked. "Now I have to fix myself. I'm lucky the rejuvenator didn't quite work, but this state is not handy for any of us." Wulfenite suddenly got an idea. "Spinel, we're going back to the lab. But we'll need Peridot. She'll probably how to operate the lab." "What are you thinking?" Spinel asked. "We're going to recreate my creation." Wulfenite said; "But I'm afraid we'll need more gems than just Peridot. Three more..."
