Wulfenite: A Steven Universe Story

Chapter 32

"So, were you nervous, Peri?" Wulfenite asked as he was looking for a good spot to hang the painting. "Of course I was! I didn't know if you'd return." "You should have a little more faith in me. I'm the son of the Diamonds, after all." "I guess you're correct, but it's only natural to develop fear of moments where you could lose a loved one." Wulfenite laughed: "Don't worry, I won't disappear on you another time." "I'm glad." Wulfenite hung the portrait on the pillar where he also hangs his cape. "There, a good spot." Wulfenite said proudly. Peridot had hung the map of the earth onto the wall with the big hole. "Say, Peridot, I never asked, but how come there is a giant hole in the barn? And why'd you fill it with a water silo?" Peridot blushed and said: "I made that hole with my giant robot. I wanted to alarm my Diamond that there were gems on earth, but then I realized that life on earth is precious. Yeah, I know. Sounds lame." Wulfenite patted Peridot on the head and said: "Aww, that's not lame, that's cute and very kind of you." Wulfenite gave Peridot a tap on her gem. "Hey, that tickles!" Peridot said giggling. After a while, Lapis flew into the barn with Steven on her back. "Wulfenite! You're back in one piece!" Steven hugged Wulfenite. "Didn't I tell you?" Wulfenite said jokingly. "Lapis told me your plan. Pretty good! I'll get to it tonight. For now, let's just play a game!"

The night fell. Steven was coloring on the barn wall. He looked outside and said: "Look at that! It's nighttime. Don't be too harsh on them, Wulfenite." Wulfenite reacted: "I'll try not to." Steven ran to the warp pad. He waved goodbye and warped back to the temple. "Show them no mercy, Wulfenite!" Peridot yelled aggressively. "Of course not. No mercy shall be given tonight." Wulfenite kissed Lapis and patted Peridot. "I'll see you two later tonight." Peridot's tablet rung. "What a timing. Bye!" Wulfenite flew off. He soared through the sky. He targeted the temple and landed silently in front of the beach house. He crouch walked up the stairs and heard the sound of talking. He opened the door, leaned on the doorway and said sassy: "Forgot something?" Pearl jumped up from the shock. "W- Wulfenite!?" Pearl paused for a moment: "There you are! We couldn't find you back on that planet. I'm so glad you found your way ba-" "Spare me your lies. I've heard everything from Steven and from you yourselves. A couple days earlier, I had a day off, so I decided to go to the beach with Lapis. Once there, we forgot to bring a parasol, so I figured you guys would be so kind to lend me one, so I walked up to the temple, only to hear y'all talk about an operation to remove me from earth. Also, for your information: I AM NOT A SPY!" The gems got nervous. Wulfenite continued: "I thought Rose Quartz raised you properly. I thought that earth gems were good gems. How can they be good if they don't even trust new recruits... Is it so hard to believe that an overpowered gem can be good? Don't forget, three of you were part of Homeworld's forces as well. The only one here who possibly can make me out as a spy is Amethyst, since she's an earth gem and she didn't know me before I came here." "That's right." Steven said whilst nodding sassy. "Wulfenite." Garnet stood up; "Don't you get it? We only did this to protect Steven. He's wearing our leader's gem, after all." Wulfenite got angry: "And since when doesn't he have free will? It's not his fault he has that stupid gem! He likes me, he trusts me. He's a real friend who doesn't suspect his friends of being spies." Wulfenite patted Steven. Garnet charged at Wulfenite and kicked him through the door. Wulfenite tried to hold on to the railing, but it broke and Wulfenite fell down. He laid buried in the sand. He sat upright and shook his head: "So this is how it's going to be, eh? A battle about who's the better parent?" Garnet stepped outside: "Leave while you still can." "Do you honestly think you can beat the son of the Diamonds?" "You're merely their son." "Come on then!" Wulfenite stood up, dusted off his cape and summoned his staff. Garnet called Pearl and Amethyst, who didn't really feel like fighting Wulfenite. They felt pity. "Garnet! This is not like you." Amethyst yelled. Garnet forced the two gems to fuse with her and so, Alexandrite stood in front of Wulfenite. She let out a powerful roar and summoned her bow. She shot multiple times at Wulfenite. "Gah! Are you crazy?!" Wulfenite shot with his staff against Alexandrite's legs. "I need to smash off that visor..." Wulfenite thought; "Then I can shoot her eyes and end this." Alexandrite summoned her flail and smashed it onto Wulfenite, who stopped it with his bare hands. "This is madness! You can't win!" Alexandrite yelled. Her voice didn't sound like one. Did Pearl and Amethyst think otherwise? Wulfenite pulled the flail down, toppling alexandrite, then he threw it around Alexandrite's body, making the flail hit her in the face. "That's how it's done!" Wulfenite yelled. Alexandrite bursted loose from the trap and spewed fire onto Wulfenite, but he quickly hid behind his cape. Then, he flew up high, turned around and smashed Alexandrite's visor off. "This'll do." Suddenly, a shield flew Wulfenite's way. "Use this!" Steven yelled. Wulfenite waved at Steven and threw the shield around Alexandrite, distracting her. Wulfenite landed back on the beach and smashed his staff into the visor, rendering it useless. "Now, to hit the sweet spot." Wulfenite flew back up, pulled Alexandrite's hair down, making her look up and finished her off with two shots in her eyes. "No! I can't lose!" Alexandrite unfused. Pearl and Amethyst ran away from Garnet. "Wulfenite! Garnet's possessed! When we fused, we shared our minds. It felt like there was a fifth mind!" Garnet unfused. Sapphire ran away from Ruby. Ruby was the one possessed! She began running around whilst uncontrollably flailing her arms around. She punched herself in the face over and over, until Wulfenite ran towards her and stopped her. "Help me! It's trying to regain control!" Wulfenite grabbed Ruby's hand. He saw a tiny computer chip implanted in her gem! He couldn't smash it, because it'd shatter Ruby, so he poofed Ruby by jamming his staff in her body. "Sorry, Ruby." The others came closer. "There's something seriously wrong with her. We may need to go into gem surgery." Wulfenite said. Wulfenite looked at Pearl and Amethyst. They both had a scared look on their face. Wulfenite held Ruby in his hands and walked back to the temple.
