Prologue: Chapter 15

Twenty eight star cycles went by. Lapis and Wulfenite were lying in their bed as Wulfenite's armpad went off. It was a video call from Blue Diamond. Wulfenite fell out of his bed and grabbed the armpad. "Hello?" Wulfenite murmured. "Hi Wulfenite! It's me! Don't forget about tomorrow! We will begin with the preparations at this time. Don't be late! Bye!" "Bye mom!" Wulfenite said and he turned the armpad off. "I might as well wake up. I don't think I can fall asleep again." Wulfenite stood up and put on his cape, boots and armpad. He looked at the bed and saw Lapis still sleeping. Wulfenite wanted to pull the sheets off, but didn't. "That's not nice, Wulfenite!" Wulfenite told himself. He opened the door and quietly closed it behind him. "Today I'll go check around the training facilities. Maybe check on White mom?" Wulfenite said as he typed it in on his armpad. He closed the armpad and flew towards the training facility of Yellow Diamond. "I haven't checked on my buddies there for a while. Might as well do it now." Wulfenite said as he landed in front of the facility. Wulfenite opened the doors and said: "Hey gals!" All the gems looked at Wulfenite. "There he is!" All the gems cheered. "Go get them during the war!" A gem yelled. Wulfenite walked around and waved around. He flew up in the air and spoke: "Okay, does everyone remember their role? Has Yellow Diamond explained the strategy?" Wulfenite asked. "Yes! We know what to do!" A gem yelled. "Good," Wulfenite said; "then let's get to the interesting part: defeat Wulfenite!" All the gems cheered. Wulfenite landed in the middle of the facility. "So, who's going to try today?" Wulfenite asked. A gem walked up to Wulfenite. "Me." It was a topaz. "Really? Aren't you on duty?" "Yes, but you're here, so we're safe enough." The topaz said. "Okay then," Wulfenite said as he summoned his staff; "let's do this." The topaz charged at Wulfenite, who ducked underneath her. He put his staff in front of her feet and pulled it back, flooring the topaz. The crowd cheered. The topaz got up and picked up Wulfenite, who reversed and picked up the topaz. He put her above his head and dropped her on his knee. The topaz tapped out. "Already? Good call." Wulfenite said. The crowd went wild. "Thank you! I'll see y'all later! Goodbye!" Wulfenite yelled as he flew back out.  "Such good gems. It's sad to know that some won't return after the war. But I can still hope that they all will make it back." Wulfenite said to himself. "Okay, now to visit White mom. This'll be interesting."

Wulfenite landed in front of White Diamond's ship. The ship opened its eyes. "That's still creepy." Wulfenite said. White Pearl floated down from the head. "Wulfenite. Come on in." White Pearl said. "Right. Bring us up there then." Wulfenite said. White Pearl bubbled herself and Wulfenite and floated into the head. Once inside, the bubble popped and White Pearl disappeared into the nearby wall. "Hello, boy." It was White Diamond. "Hey White mom. I wanted to talk with you about-" "I know boy. You want to know about the war at hand. Don't worry, everything will go smoothly with your assistance. You will play a massive role in this war." "Really? But why?" "Oh boy. Don't ask why. You should be honored. Not everyone gets the chance to play such an important part." "I know. I'm sorry. I'm just so nervous." "And that is rightfully so. We all know what will happen if we don't win." White Diamond said. Wulfenite wiped his forehead. "Now, take your time and enjoy the last days here, boy." White Diamond said. "What?" Wulfenite asked. Before he got an answer, he got bubbled and sent back to his room. Once back, he got out of the bubble and saw Lapis sitting on the bed. "There you are! Where were you?" Lapis asked. "I've been going around the place, y'know. Yellow's training facility, White Diamond, no big deal." "White Diamond?!" Lapis asked surprised. "Yeah, some last minute info on the gem war." "Wow... isn't that frightening? I've heard rumors that she's in control of that Pearl of hers." "I can see that. White Pearl is a peculiar being." Lapis nodded in agreement. "Well, tomorrow is the big day..." Wulfenite said with a sigh. "You nervous?" Lapis asked. "Is it that obvious?" Wulfenite asked. "Heh, kinda. You're already trembling." Wulfenite fell onto the bed. "Maybe I need some sleep." Wulfenite said as he curled up. "There ya go. Sleep it off." Lapis laid down next to Wulfenite and together they fell asleep.
