Wulfenite and Amethyst arrived at the site of the explosion. It was a maintenance tower. It wasn't destroyed completely, but the tower didn't look too stable. "What happened here?" Wulfenite asked another Amethyst. "Something went wrong in the shattering hall. A gem broke in and started breaking everything. Now she's held on trial. She probably won't get out in one piece. Between you and me, I respect her for what she did." Wulfenite was shocked. Who could it be? A rebel? Maybe Lapis or Peridot? Wulfenite yelled at Amethyst, ordering her to come over: "We're going in. The gem inside can use our help." "Yup, I heard the story. We need to act quickly." Amethyst ran inside, followed by Wulfenite.
The halls were empty. It was silent and dark. Suddenly, Wulfenite heard a loud bang. "Did you hear that?" He asked Amethyst. "Yeah, I came from over there!" Amethyst said and she ran towards the big entrance to the courtroom. "Of course she's in there." Wulfenite whispered to himself. He also ran into the big hall. Once inside, they arrived on some sort of tribune. "Look! Is that... Peridot?! Yo, P!" Amethyst pointed to the gem in the middle of the tower. "Hey, it is! Thank the stars we found her. Now we only need Lapis and then we can-" Wulfenite was interrupted by a loudspeaker that exclaimed: "The execution will now commence!" Wulfenite stopped moving: "Execution?!" He stood there with his eyes wide open. A gem walked up to the plateau and grabbed a giant rod. The gem lifted the rod in front of Peridot's face. "NO! Don't do it!" Wulfenite yelled and screamed, but Amethyst held him back: "Wulfenite! We're gonna get caught! Stop yelling! I know she'll get shattered, but if we do something, we'll be discovered and Steven will be in danger! We gotta let Peri go, man." Amethyst felt bad saying it, but she didn't have a choice. In the circle, Peridot tried to stop the rod, but was held in place by two topazes. "Stop! Please! I'm begging you!" Peridot screamed. Wulfenite squirmed around in Amethyst's arms. He was also conflicted. Amethyst had trouble containing him. Then, it happened. The rod struck Peridot's gemstone. The sound triggered Wulfenite's memories. How he first witnessed a shattering back on the special War Preparation Day. Back then, he managed to save a friend. This time, it was different. Amethyst pulled Wulfenite outside by his leg. "C'mon! We need to leave! Now!" Wulfenite screamed and cried and banged on the floor. "PERIDOT!!!" He eventually fainted from too much stress. Amethyst carried Wulfenite on her back and once outside, jumped back to the kindergarten. How was Amethyst going to explain what happened to the rest? Will they be able to handle the loss? Amethyst shed a tear. "Poor Peridot, once she finally got along with us... she was finally free. It was all taken from her in a second. Everything she'd accomplished, gone." Amethyst needed to focus, as she almost hit a rock. She jumped up and landed on top of the kindergarten. She saw the gems down below. She wiped her tears: "I can't tell them what happened..." "Yes you can." It was Wulfenite. He'd woken up. He jumped from Amethyst's arms and shapeshifted back. "We can't keep lying to each other. We need to tell them." Amethyst started crying. "C'mon Amethyst, don't cry. It's going to make me cry." Now they were both crying. Wulfenite hugged Amethyst tightly. "Oh Amethyst, what did we do?"
