Prologue: Chapter 7

"Wulfenite! Pay attention!" Yellow yelled. Wulfenite was sitting in his throne, half asleep: "Uh? Yeah yeah, don't light your Pearl on fire, I know." "That's not what I- You know what, I'll just give you your Pearl. You'll learn soon enough." Yellow said and she commanded her Pearl to get the Pearl for Wulfenite. "Oh, this is so exciting! You're finally getting your own Pearl!" Pink Diamond said. "I know right? It's time for me to fight evil with a sidekick!" "But Wulfenite, Pearls aren't build for fighting. You can't use her for that." "Why didn't you tell me?" "Yellow did! But you were sleeping! Why do you even sleep? You don't need sleep." "I know, but it's relaxing. You don't have to worry about a thing when you're sleeping." "Well, don't sleep too often. We have more use for you when you're awake." "Don't worry. From now on, I'll only sleep when I'm taking a break." Wulfenite said. "Here she is, my Diamond." Yellow Pearl said. "My apologies Wulfenite, but she's not orange like you." Yellow Diamond said. "Ah, that doesn't matter. She looks beautiful!" Wulfenite said. "Alright! That means I get my Peridot now, right?" Pink asked. "Of course, come with me." Yellow Diamond said. "Oh Wulfenite, Blue will be back in a few." Yellow said. "A few what?" "Don't worry about it." Pink yelled. "What?!" Wulfenite sighed. "Well, then it's just me and you, Pearl." Pearl didn't react. "...Pearl? Is something the matter?" Wulfenite asked. "You haven't given me permission to talk, your highness." "What? Do I have to give you permission? You can talk when, with and wherever you want. You don't need my permission." "But I don't understand. Why not?" "Because you have a free will under my custody! You can do whatever you want! You aren't my slave, you're my partner!" "Uh, okay then, your highness." "You don't have to call me your highness, either. Just call me Wulfenite. I don't have many rules. Just obey to things I ask and you'll be fine. I don't want a servant, I want a friend, a partner! So don't treat me like I am more than you." "Wow, you're so nice! T-Thank you!" Pearl blushed and asked: "D-Do I have persmission to hug you?" "What did I just say?" "Right." Wulfenite grabbed Pearl and gave her a big hug: "I don't want serving. Be my partner."

"Wulfenite? I'm back." Blue Diamond said. "Hey mom! How did it go?" Wulfenite asked as he opened his eyes. "Well, as expected, Rose Quartz showed up to attack me. It didn't work, of course, but it did cause for my Sapphire and a Ruby to fuse. She fled the scene and we lost track of her." "Woah, I hope they won't cause any problems." "So do I. Well, did you get your Pearl?" "Yeah! She's right here!" Pearl stepped forward and greeted Blue Diamond. "Hey, you remind me of someone." Blue Diamond said as she took a close look at Pearl. "What do you mean?" Wulfenite said; "She's my Pearl. Who could she possibly resemble?" "You're right. I must be overthinking this. It's just that Rose Quartz had a Pearl with her too. That couldn't have been you, right?" Blue Diamond asked as she looked into Pearl's eyes. "Hah, I only jest." Blue Diamond said and she went to sit in her throne. "Oh! Wulfenite, I have a mission for you." "Great! I was looking forward to some action." Wulfenite said excited. "Then listen closely: There are rumors about a Ruby fight club in one of Pink's hangars on the twenty third colony. All the gems we sent out to investigate, haven't come back from there." "That's scary." Wulfenite said. "Indeed. So we need a big and strong gem to investigate. You fit the profile perfectly, so what do you say? Are you up for a rescue operation?" Wulfenite looked at Pearl, then back at Blue Diamond. "Yeah, let's do it."
