"Okay, careful now..." Lapis said. Wulfenite was carrying his sculpture into the barn. Today's lesson in sculpturing assigned him to remake a famous statue, only Wulfenite took a bit of creative liberty. "Okay, just a little further- Watch our for that pillar!" Lapis yelled. Wulfenite slowly walked around it. "Okay! Put it down. Here is fine." Wulfenite set the sculpture down. "Now we can look at Lapis even when she isn't here." He said proudly. Peridot looked over from the couch: "Well, that's one way to depict Lazuli." "You like it? I made it myself." Wulfenite said. "Why did you choose to leave her undressed?" Peridot asked. "It's based off of an existing sculpture. I just turned it into Lapis. That's also why she is missing her arms." Wulfenite explained. "Oh. I thought you were just being clumsy again." Peridot said with a grin. "Very humorous." Wulfenite said; "Well, I must say I enjoyed my first day of school." "Did you? Does that mean you will stay in school?" Lapis asked. "I'll try to follow your classes as well as Peridot's, but I'll also try some other classes on the side. Can't give a good review without trying all of it, right?" Wulfenite stated. "Agreed. You'll have to take every class for a valid report. Now then, can you carry me to bed? I want to relax for a moment. Teaching really takes a toll on me." Peridot said. Wulfenite flew up and put Peridot in the bed. He hung up his cape and laid down next to Peridot: "Goodnight, Lapis." But Lapis was already sleeping in her hammock. "Oh. Well, goodnight Peridot." "Goodnight, Wulfenite."
The next morning, Wulfenite woke up to a crashing sound. He jumped upright, launching Peridot through the barn. "Whaaa!" She yelled. Wulfenite quickly jumped after her, grabbed her mid-air and put her back in the bed. "Sorry, Peridot. I got startled. You heard that too, right?" Wulfenite asked. "That sound of marble breaking by force? Yes, I did." Peridot stated whilst rubbing her eyes. Wulfenite jumped down and saw his sculpture ruined. "What happened here? Lapis?!" Wulfenite ran to Lapis's hammock. She was still there, sleeping. "Thank the stars. But, what happened to my creation? Were we robbed?" Wulfenite asked. "Hey, big one! Can you get me down from here?" Wulfenite heard Peridot yell. He flew up and brought Peridot down. She walked to the sculpture. "Someone smashed it. If it had fallen down, the bottom part would be more damaged. Also, notice the part on the left that is chipped. Since it fell on its right side, the left side shouldn't be damaged." Peridot analyzed. Wulfenite was astonished: "Wow, that's some high class detective work." "Please, this is child's play." "Anyhow, that's beside the point. Who did this and why?" Wulfenite asked. "Well, either someone had a little too much vacation juice and stumbled into our shed, or someone hates you and/or Lapis." "Not you?" "I was in no way involved in the creation of that statue. I didn't make it and I don't resemble it. I'm pretty sure I'm in the clear." Peridot said. Lapis slowly woke up. "Hm. Is it time for school already?" She asked. "Good morning, beautiful. I hope you slept better than your statue did." Wulfenite said sadly. Lapis got up and looked at the mess of broken marble. "Oh my, what happened?"
"Okay, but if we are in danger, we can't sleep anymore! Or we could take turns..." Lapis explained as she and Wulfenite walked to her class. "Guess we'll have to go look for something to do during the night then. Peridot will be asleep, so we can practically do whatever we want, as long as we don't disturb her plant research." "We'll think of something later. It's now time for school." Lapis said as they landed on the watchtower. "Hey Wulfenite!" A voice came from behind him. It startled him: "Argh! Who the- Oh, sorry, Cherry." "Still on edge?" "Yeah, I can't help it." "It explains why you broke most baseball bats during Amethyst's lessons." "Yeah... I still have to apologize to her about that... Hey, how'd you know I had baseball? Didn't your class take a field trip today?" "O-oh, n-no, I didn't go. I-I didn't feel so good..." "Really? What's wrong?" "I've been thinking a lot about my past. It was horrible. I just can't seem to forget about it. It troubles me." "You'll be alright. Give it some time." "I-if it's alright with you, what helped you get through those difficult times?" "Well, my first bad day got cleared up relatively easy when I met Lapis that day." "Lapis, huh." Cherry Quartz's face went a bit sour. "Yeah, she made my life so much more bearable. I love her so much." Wulfenite said whilst staring at Lapis teaching. "That's nice." Cherry Quartz said with a smile. Wulfenite didn't react. He was fully focused on Lapis. Cherry Quartz noticed and went back to work.
"Okay, that's all for today. Great work, everyone. We will continue next week." Lapis announced. The class slowly emptied. "So, what are your plans today?" Cherry Quartz asked Wulfenite. "I don't really have any plans, to be honest." "In that case, do you maybe want to accompany me at the funfair? O-Only if you want to..." Cherry Quartz asked nervously. "Uh, sure. I don't have anything to do. Sounds fun." Wulfenite said in response. "Okay! Let's be off then!" Cherry Quartz said with an excited tone.
"So, you and Lapis have been together for a long time, isn't that correct?" Cherry Quartz asked. "Yeah, it's been at least five thousand years." Wulfenite responded as he took a bite of his cotton candy; "Y'know, this is really good! Are you sure you don't want to try some?" "N-No thanks. B-But I would like s-some other form of sugar..." Cherry Quartz said as her cheeks turned red. "Like what, a drink? We could get you one!" "N-Never mind, I'm fine. S-So, you never thought of looking for another gem you could love as much as Lapis?" "No, I can't say I have. Lapis is everything I need in a gem. She's strong, smart and beautiful, among countless other things. She is the whole package. Quirks and all." "I wish I had all of that. No gem seems to like me." "Now don't say that! I'm sure that's not true." Wulfenite said as he sat down on a bench, signing Cherry Quartz to sit down next to him; "Anyone would be lucky to have you. I might've only known you for a couple of days, but I already know you to be a good listener and an overall sweet gem. If I wasn't taken, I'm sure we'd make a good couple." Cherry Quartz quickly became overwhelmed with emotions and started to breathe heavily. "Cherry? Are you okay?" Wulfenite asked concerned. "I... I... Ivegottogodosomething!" Cherry Quartz exclaimed and she ran off. "Well, that was weird. But then again, I live with Peridot, so I'm quite used to weird." Wulfenite said as he took the last bite of his cotton candy.
